as there are so many photos and they are technically 2 different costumes (I know its only a moustache difference) I thought it would make sense to set up an separate album. also im going to hyper japan on july 27th 2014 :D

went shopping today and found 5 lenses and a camera for £15 hopefully they fit and or work with what im using them for. my MAN tights arrived today too and fit nicely and closely (might have to get the underwear I used for viewtiful joe out again) and are shiny enough (they're ballet ones with stirrups on the feet so they stay stretched out on leg and don't roll up etc.)

ive been ordering some faulty camera lenses in the hope they would look good as the goggley things on his helmet . at around 99 for the lens and 3'50 for post it sorta cheap and will save time hopefully.

everyone loved it and it was relatively easy to get around in , it was hot inside but got cooler as the day went on especially outside , had fun at the photoshoot even took up a photobomb offer ! , few things thou my sleaves kept falling out ( forgot to get them pushed in some times )so I look a bit rough in some photos my trousers came open at the lower leg a bit on Saturday and my shoe covers were falling off on sunday so a few repairs needed .visibility was fine considering .

got such a good reception on the mcm expo forum over 350 likes ! and im not even at expo yet so pleased it came together well it just gotta survive the trip up there and the weekend.

will do dress rehersal and im done wooooo! bring on expo

got quite a bit done recently the whole main section is I would say done just gotta attach the waist section ,adjust trousers and paint green stripes on both oh and make shoe covers..(and glue on head spikes)

recently added fabric to arms and main body section and cut out arm holes along with eyes and mouth . the arms also have their green stripes painted onto them they look like big marrows atm looool . im waiting for the arm to dry and both arms will be 99 percent complete (1 percent might be slight changes). I gotta be honest the top half will looks good but I do worry about the lower sections :S

okay dress rehersal highlighted a few issues with how high the waist needs to be , how strong / good the string I currently have is ,and with the waist low atm I cant bend my legs easily to strike the classic pose this can hopefully be corrected easily on a more positive note I did cover the other arm in fabric so both arms just need a dark green stripe unt zey are done . spesh thank to pete and rose for dressing me lol

the main skeleton of the whole cactuar is done I dunno if I gunna do feet nubs I might just make foot covers and wear running shoes im hopefully gunna do a dress rehearsal soon then fabric n paint and im done I think, today I made the legs joint via cored green string hopefully it doesn't undo and attached them to the waist section which ive yet to see is the right size etc.

I did a test run working on the arm by putting the fabric on it it looks ...okay might look better painted.

ive been tying to figure out how to joining the upper body to lower I.e legs today I made a section similar to what I saw in a video of a tonberry and cactuar cosplayers dancing together if it works then all I gotta do is connect the leg segment and possible do the foot nubs and then fabrication and painting.!

I cut some spikes out of cardboard (this cactuar variant has three red / brown spikes instead of three black lines ) ,it was a thorn in my side so to speak (dat pun)to get the colouration right and the size a small step but one none the less.

foam up thouse sharp arm hole edges the arms fit and move freely , the eye holes cut out and can be seen through , the mouth also cut out can also be seen through and will double up as ventilation recent back and shoulder pain has prevented any work being done this week really and it may already with 3 weeks max to go im optimistic but worried about finishing.

tried on the main section today and forgot to foam up around the arm hole , squeezed into the costume and got grated like cheese .ouch however I made the holes slightly bigger than needed as the angle to get my arm through the holes was to acute I can also rotate and move my arms with more ease I hope.

thanks to rose who helped me line up where arm holes will go on the main section, I also have finished both arms thou I may shorten one .

nearly all the bits are ready to be connected except the waist to leg section as I will need to see how much of me stick out the top half once ive cut out my arm holes etc . talking of which I have now assembled an arm section and will start on the other soon it will be covered in green fabric at some point .

ive managed to make a rough top head to put onto the main section and have begun to paper mache it .

all limb segments are now paper mached . im now applying 3rd and 4th layer to the arm segments I still have the main body segments and joints and such to do next.my friend suggested making the arm sections rigid rather than jointed this might be a good idear :D the leg however will need to be otherwise I wont be able to move lololol.

ive done 1 inside layer and 2 outside layers to : all 4 arm segments and 1 leg segment im gunna ask my friends if they think more layers are needed .

2 lower arm sections and 1 upper arm section ,1st and second layers applied once these are done I can hopefully figure out the limb joint or I might have to make it rigid.

and this morning it dried out nicely but will defiantly need more layers as I suspected , next I will do the head dome and then all the layers on each section and then see if the rabbit tunnels I got will work as joints , and then the section where the legs and the main section meet.

however im now wondering how im gunna do the feet without making it look to big or misshapen..... any idears ? I gotta walk round in this thing too thinking caps on !

so far I have made / cut the tubular main body section and upper arm section from the wire mesh I bought. the metal is sharp :o but light and strong enough for me to put a skin (paper Mache?) on top .

now I have reference pictures up I was thinking WHERE THE F am I gunna start ! also how will I make it then I found this so random it exsist but thank goodness it dioes :D http://www.ehow.co.uk/how_7846351_make-cactuar-cosplay-costume.html

seems small to me but then again most photos will be taken from front and people will rarely see th back the logo itself seem okay just small and the flames on the top of the skull aren't brilliant.

boota arrived (ordered from California)

using the yellow (but appears orange) film which I also used for my v joe mask and trying it on it seems too big the eye holes but looked better on my hair / head. Drilling :D

it was very thin in places made form foam a friend lent me

using my old joe mask as a template for simon goggles

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yThOJZ-Z5u0&feature=youtu.be

second layer improves so glue and red is not visable

done and improved , shortened and held up with velcrow

yellow mask eye detailed added , it looks a bit orange thou and modified helmet string from mask and painting and smoothing to come :D

thanks to advice from "this random scrub" i invested in some car body filler to smooth out what was gunna be a, from scratch helmet , due to time running out i bought a motorcycle helmet that was a good match instead and am using the car body filler to smooth out hinges n such :D

trying to get the foot section sorted atm but cant decide between a cheap pair of white wellies or the leg sections from the white morph suit grr

mixed result with the muscle suit origionally a super man costume i was gunna use the chest section (the muscle bit) under my bodysock , however due to my chest being a little narrower that i thought it A didnt fit in the body suit B the super man logo showd throught and C concaved / folder under my arms and looked terrible aslo it keep shifting up when pulling the bodysock up however all is not lost i decided to cut out the six pack / rib section and keep that which looks pretty good once held in place with tape or somthing the elasticity of the bodysock keeps it in place and is very confortable as is made out of foam and gives me more of a super hero physique like joe does . besideds my chest isnt too bad and it look pretty cool together .the only thing im noticing is that i dunno weather its he belt and six pac section that streached the material a bit more, or weather its the improved natural lighting of the photo but the seam on my underwear has become more obviouse (may try to smooth things out ) but its a lot better to have a seam than some of the other detail(s)that other underwear has revealed plus i guess it lets people now im not naked underneath :D .

trying out the belt yesturday to see if it fits , is thick enought etc i havent finsihed the buckle yet so i tape on a teporary one for now so i got a idear of how it might look aslo couldent find my origional gloves at the time so used the hands from the white morph suit

white morph suit you say ? but joe has a red one ? dont worry folks it is a doner morph suit . and will be cut up to for the hood / neck detailing , possibly thicken up the gloves as theyre a little trasparent , and make shoe cover aswell hopefully my only worry being that the white one is incredibly see through as is i could see the wording on my underwear throught the body suit ! goodness know how anyone can wear one without feeling slightly exposed, on top of that morphsuits have wording on the back hence why i used a bodysock for the main section . anyways as im not wearing the white suit im only concerned as to how visable my show will be under the white shoe cover.

finally got round to puting up photos of me trying on the bodysuit and gloves they look good . i must add thou that i had to rotate some of the photos and hence i look a bit strange in them i.e taller , skinnier , out of proportion , i must aslo add that what i was wearing underneath to protect my modesty was supportive in certain areas so if my bottom looks odd ! :O that because a the zip on the suit ment it was tighter round the back and hence lefted my rear ! the underwear aslo went underneath the cheeks to support them (because A it held the front in so had loop around and under and B fat or muscle you bottoms gunna wobble when relaxed ! so the straps i guess add extra support)

i have recieved my red headless body suit from "bodysocks" who were cheaper than other morphsuits , it was right shade of red , not too shiney / metalic and they also have no advertising / wording on the back . it aslo fits very nicely . i must state that you should not wear naked and that SUITABLE UNDERWEAR is required due to it skin tight nature specificaly at the front ! (if you wish to know how i reduced the bulge without the underwear itself showing throught to badly please dont be too shy to privatly message me on here ,as call old fashioned but it not somthing ya go shouting about :P )...moving on im hoping to acheive the muscular form my character has as i look a bit weedy at the moment, if not im sure a muscle suit or somthing similar can help :D i have aslo found some white gloves at a local fancy dress shop and a bandit mask for less than £10 for both . p.s there is a big red zip going up the back of the bodysock but might be coverd by my cape anyways.

got some better fitting closer coloured army surplus trousers today :D sweet photo soon...

finally figured out a way to do that belt thingy ..... foam craft foam i think but is it brown , yellow or oragne i can't tell ..... should i paint or cover in material ? will show you what i end up with soon.

found a few bit for my costume in traverse town ..... i mean croyden with the help of yuffie aka rosanna and david :D

realsing i dont have the build for cid yet lol !

well im nearly done on the patches and acessories etc . but i can already see when i compare my current costume to the reference picture there are bits i could improve on for october . such as bigger trousers and a shorter scarf etc but as i havent been able to find them i'll do the best with what ive got :D.

tried all my costume on today while round my freinds house . and it looked good and got a great reaction from them all especially pete and rose (whatsername).

i finsihed my sleaves today despited pricking myself with he needle many times it was the one thing i kept putting off and was worried about .i literall put blood into this :O dont worry none went on the costume

okay so my costume as it stands is as it apears in the game: blue jacket, green trousers , gloves and goggles when hes in world map (as party leader)(only missing long scarf atm) or when not in battle or cut scene. when he enters battle and cuts scenes he is more detailed with badges/ patches , cigarette ,weapons trouser clips and so on ...... very pleased with goggles and gauntlets i ordered . went into reigate on monday and found some paint for me and my group among other things. waiting for the rain to stop so i can do some outdoors spear work / allway have the mop as a back up :D
