Progress

I started Cosplaying in 2005 after i attended my first MCM expo. I had just left my Bowling league due to age and wasn't accepted into the Adult league as it was full. I loved the idea of dressing up as my favorite character, got really excited, this was my kind of thing. The following expo i decided i wanted to cosplay, as a gift from a friend i was bought a cosplay.

I guess what i love about cosplay the most is having something to put in my creative flare, i love making cosplays the most, and meeting people. I like the photos, however, one day i would like to go out for a photoshoot somewhere like an old derelict church or woodlands or something.

I never actually entered the masquerade before my first time ever was May 2011 With My sylvari cosplay after lots of encouragement by friends, I was surprised when we picked up first place best in parade. You can then imagine how chuffed i was then to get Runners up for the Neo Mag cosplay idol Calendar later in the year with my Necromancer cosplay. 2011 was a year of achievements for myself, it was only 2 but for me that was a major step and confidence boost in my own skills, and cant wait to see what the future brings and what other materials skills and costumes i can explore!

2018: After taking 2 years out from conventions due to buying a house (#adulting) I made myself a cosplay area and started making cosplay again making my ventures out with Costume and Play Team who knows what convention or event i will take it to when its done!

today marks the first day, all the fabrics have been ordered at a grand total of £52 + £7 for the wig I already Recieved a week ago. I have a count down of 85 Days to complete this along with some other things and work obviously, Challenge accepted! and Im going to try make this the best cosplay i've ever made!

I am already regretting my choices of adding so many beads to this, it will be worth it but im finding beads everywhere im dreaming beads, I even founds beads in my dinner.....

I drew up a plan of a basic idea of what i wanted to do a while ago, this was my first draft with no detail on the drawing (because i suck at that). But you get the idea, I was going for massive Cinderella like ball dress with a masquerade feel like form the phantom of the opera/Mikus Dress from Project Diva, whilst trying to keep the elements of Lamb in the design. Ive also seen some Wedding dresses within the look im going for so im bouncing my ideas from all of those.

So i am slightly cheating when it comes to the embroidered elements. I have bought some bridal Embelishments. they are huge! and i am glad they're going to work so well. I will be hand sewing on beads to them to give added detail, so far I have the back piece and over 100 embroidered flowers which I will also be adding beads and so forth to.

After agood solid 6 hours I think i may have come to a final decission to stop on the wig. I've made the wig from 2 wigs, a Pale grey and a white and some kalekon fibre extensions to mak ethe plaits. Using a sharpie and beads i added the detailing, though i may add more over time here and there because i feel it could do with a bit more down the back.

I was more than chuffed to finally have a prop that lights up and stays lit up with no electrical fault at all. This in itself is an accomplishment for me.

A full layout of the cosplay completed without me wearing it, I love seeing my cosplays like this, a sense of accomplishment before packing it ready for a con.

Fabric is starting to arrive. I have stated work on Chikorita with materials i already owned in my craft box. Starting with the headdress using Worbla as the bas structure, covering it in fabric where required and adding details with beads. Ill use earth magnets to hold it in place on my head.

full page of how i made my wig =D blog and update on etwahl xD

I have been so busy I've negelcted my journal DX but

http://justcosplayblog.wordpress.com/2013/03/09/luna-ancient-instrument-in-an-exquisite-case-of-unknown-origins/

I did write that step by step on how i made my Etwahl =3 Im so proud of how its turned out, there maybe a few minor hicups but its all in the learning, if i had the money i maybe woulda coated it in worbla.

The wig i am super proud of because when it came in the post it looked like this:

https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/61939_10200915361357339_1236889581_n.jpg

I had to detangle it, cut it and straighten it before doing anything else, then styled the bangs, added in the yellow wefts (which are removable incase i want to use the wig again) the i made the hair pieces which attatched to them are more wefts! so they can be removed if wanting to use the wig later too =)then i spent 3 hours trying to get the ponytails to blend together xD by vertically cutting the wig at a slight angle.

had a fair few ups and downs the making of the Etwahl is going really good, but i ran out of expanding foam. I thought i messed up the dress big time, but i am so happy about how it is turning out now. my stencils i made are the right size <3 and i don't think i have anything wrong on the dress... YET! i realised that i cute the patern for the pale blue fabric wrong.. DOH! but this can be fixed YAY! i have enough fabric to redo the part that is wrong. so all is well.

Started Cosplay yesterday, Made a pattern cut out the fabric (all for the base dress only) and pinned it together with a few hitches like pins digging in and getting a really bad cold, I put it on hold until i could have more hours to myself doing it when no ones around, So for the time being onto the Etwah and cutting out the base from card.

Already started to buy the fabric, I have a really nice Taffeta for the main dress as Satin or silk would just be too shiney and some blue netting to make a peticoat to go underneath, i still have to buy the pale blue and gold fabric and a few other bits n bobs but is getting well underway! also thanks to a freind i have the fishtail pattern i need to alter slightly to make the base dress! So excited! I have also decided to use EL wire for the Etwah because it glows when she plays musical notes so thats my plan =)

So this maybe my last entry here WHOOOO
I finished the top last night and finished some details and bits gave i all a test rune <3 i can say though this cosplays making me feel sick =( not only because i keep panicing if its going to look ok, but if its gonna break, my moveability, and ontop of that, the glue the varnish and other things ive been using to make it just stink out my room, even with windows open witht he endless rain and unable to take it outside i guess i shall suffer. only 7 more days to get the ring and one side of a wing done and soldering + ironing, im confident it will be done before i leave, just not confident it will make it in one piece >.< this cosplays come a long way since day one, i cant wait to wear it, and get the wings 100% constructed!

See you all there =3

Luna x

I have the wig in my hands, and plan to start on it tomorrow =D Im too excited and want to do it now though D= but stuff is stopping me so i shall work on it when im wide awake but heres a pic of the wig from the site he got it from and shizzle so you guys can se what im working from ^_^

I made a skirt for this <3 i made it in the space of 20 minutes haha! so pleased, just to finish sewing the rest together now. its major fun to run around in, also going to have my pointed elf ears on, why? because i think its kinda dragonish like, if they were humanoids they'd have big pointy ears =D

I get The wig on Tuesday, really looking forward to this, hopefully will not only be doing the wig but using what i cut off for the tash and goatee =D Ive read a lot of tutorials just to make sure what im going to do will work, and cannot wait to get started!

I sent it all down to london with my boyfriend 2 days ago ready for this Mays expo, will be re-wearing it ^_^ It been repaired will just need a bit of a poof out with a hair drier, the only difference will be my actual hair.... as i cant dye it pink atm. booo so i will be using my lunamaria wig instead =3

I bought my gloves... i sinned i know i am sorry =( but the ones i was making just weren't working and i had no fabric left to remake them in time or me to leave for london (15th may) with what i have left to do. if i have time i will re attempt, but i probably wont. but it is the only part i have bought that was pre made. so what have i got left to do? not too much =D

Make white details
put on velcro
tidy up trim here and there
re-solder a few joints that are weak
put black ribbon on top
make second wing
finish ring
add last paint details
(buy orb?)

and then it shall be done... in fact i think it will do the paint tonight so its dry in the morning to finish off sewing the last bit on machine and touch ups =D I CAN DO THIS! motivation is high, specially when it looking to a wearable standard lol

I havent done one of these in ages, Everything's going good, royal mail managed to loose my extra order of wire that i needed, Electrics are going well apart from that, some re already installed and working, overall 12 circuits i think i counted? geez thats more than i had hoped >.< Since i last posted i seemed to have sorted issues, the top now fits perfectly.. ish that might change when ive cut in the hole for wings e.c.t in the back =\ hope not lol. seems a shame to paint all this detail and then cut into it. The cuffs i washed all the paint off and spray pianted them, they are now up to a decent standard imo. The collar now is almost done, well i guess the better way to do this is one of those epic "still to do lists"

- Paint Sleeves
- sew sleeves
- Sew gold on back
- Add ribbon to front
- Cut wing/ring holes
- paint last bits on collar
- Attach collar
- make "choker"
- Attach pouldrens
- Make/attatch Small white details
- finish gloves
- paper mache ring, Sand and paint
- finish electrics
- finish last hemming on back pannel
- tidy up stitching
- Finish last wing
- Put wings together
- paper mache and paint orb

- test run....if i get time lol

wooow thats a lot left to do O.o

NEver ever ever have i felt like crying over a cosplay... never, I think this is the first time i have been so upset, it was going so well, maybe i took on too big a project for my own good? Everything was going so smoothly, until i lost motivation... then the cuff paint cracked.. the details broke...the gloves wont sit right... The top doesnt sit right...an LED goes in a circuit...i run out of wire... the list goes on =( Im just going to go sit under a rock and hope magic faeries come and repair it and finish it all off for me.

The last week progress has been majorly slow, however i have made now the underlining for the wings and one out of 4 set of feathers, also i have almost finished one cuff which just needs a paint touch up before varnishing. The hand sewing is upto date but i expect there will be more down the line haha! I just finished painting the boot covers and pinning the fabric to the top of them, the best part, they are really comfey <3

I kinda have to buy myself a new glue gun though.. mine exploded XD so its put a bit of a hault on things. i also need a soldering iron but i know where i can get one cheap =3 so im happy i will hopefully get that in the week ^_^ am slightly panicking coz i want to get my sylvari repaired and my secret cosplay completed, and these wings are taking forever.... so if anyone wants to lend me a few hands XD

oh and if you hadnt already noticed my wig came, i styled it too and im pretty happy with it ^_^ its probably one of my best wigs to date but it was majorly stubborn on how it wanted to be styled.

Yesterday my Wonderflex arrived, so since then i have been concentrating more on the harder elements playing around with this awesome stuff, im really pleased with how it turned out, especially as i used hot water, not the usual method of a heat gun to mould it =)i have also made the bracers and have yet to make the collar which shall also be made of it too. theres more to do on these pieces, and im planning on varnishing too, and adding a few other little details =3

Today i hit that awful place no one wants to hit! yup... THE WALL! today nothing would go right, the back ring broke, the gloves went wrong, i took 5 attempts at the same section of my harness before it was good enough to use, the top i couldnt pin straight, I got myself in a majro muddle, guess im happy though i got the last i need for gems, and i did eventually after a lot of imput from friends fix the ring (the main join for the bars where it goes in the harness broke) ... tbh i think it wa a days gap of not doing any that knocked down my motivation, i hope after a good nights sleep i might be motivated to do a bit more...

Who knew sewing could be so fun!!! I've nearly completed the whole bottom part of this cosplay, just awaiting wonderflex and to hand sew some bits and it will be done (minus boot covers)the gems are looking awesome too =) quite proud

only issues im coming across is all this fabric weighs a tonne! so im having to use a belt to help hold it up... thats not the only reason seems ive lost weight since i started making this =\ it practically falls off me lol i guss its a good thing though, really needed to loose weight. also done a gem test, they're looking awesom i just hope others will love this as much as me

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!

I finally got my grubby little mits onto the sewing machine, and i've been sewing almost solid for 2 days straight. Completing the 2 large skirt pannels the main skirt, almost finished the boot covers too! And i've added the pockets =D so all is going good ^_^ oh i've also almost finished the hip guards they just need the trim on now, The pouldrens also need a second layer of varnish, and the back ring and Gauntlet are looking awesome with their forst half done in paper mache, but im happy =) all is going well...... for now.

Yeah thats right! I am now about 50% complete with this cosplay =) Is a pretty easy one tbh as i said, i'm quite chuffed with how its looking, Make up shall be tied in with it aswell =) Wings look epic im pleased with those ^_^ Its so cute lol. I just need to finish covering the rest of the foam in fabric, Attatch it all and paint a few shiney details ^_^ thats it =D

Finally I bought my wig and the last of my LED's and electronic bits yesterday and they have been shipped already this morning! talk about service =3 I have also started on the dreaded gloves, boot covers, the back ring and gauntlet are officially finished carving wise just need to put gems on paper mache + details and put in electronics.... and of course paint I just really want to get onto the sewing machine right now though! If i do that it would help me know what i have to do next, not entirely sure on which bits i havent cut out anymore =\

Today i made a decent start, Already cut out all the foam shaes and bases i need for it, kinda excited about this XD all i need do now is cut out fabric sew and then paint on details and its done =P so easy, but it will look awesome =) .... i hope lol

since my last entry i thought i would stop and study some Lore about Aion, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWW!!!! i am impressed, im almost and ingrosed as i am with Guildwars Lore (and thats something hard to do) I love spiritmasters even more and the world they're from the story, and ive found out some thiings i didnt know before about terms and names of thigs... the "hub" is actually refered to as a guantlet in Aion terms.... common sense i guess? All thi i feel is a major part of Cosplaying imo you need to know who youre cosplaying for yourself, the character and the fans =)

on a more cosplay related note ive also been researching how to set up my electric =3 im all done now and finally figured it out haha, all thats left to do is await the last LED's and battery connectors and solder it all together. (i realised i also needed red LED's for the gauntlet and one purple LED for the "choker/collar")

My wonderflex has also been shipped, should be getting that mid next week hopefully =) Cant wait! =D

Well they always say nothing stays good for long, today has had some major downfalls, My fabric arrived and it is NOTHING like it was meant to be >.< however i have compromised and it will still look good regardless. so i hope that'll be good, then I found i had a refund for my wig i had ordered ... no e-mail jus a refund, on further investigation i was told that they had none in stock, even though it was listed! URGH! so i had to go on search for another wig, thankfully i was able to find a replacement, although not heat-resistant its the perfect colour and style and cheaper XD so i guess that a bonus? the 3rd thing that went wrong today was my foam, it hates me, i swear it trickled out of the can like it was epty! but it was brand new =\ thankfully a spray with some warm water made it grow really huge, howver i still had a few gaps, but they were repairable with any offcuts just glue em on and carve again. On a plus side i did get more plastic of my gems today =)

so why am i calling it a hub? well Its whenre the orb usualy sits when its not in use, however there is no significant indication on it where it sits when not in use and when in use (i dont play aion so yeah this bit gets hard) I know spiritmasters use these and i know its an Elos wepon, but i've nto seen it in gameplay so i cant tell much more than the reference, alot of "hubs" turn into the orb where as this one doesnt seem to (bonus for me lol) anyway ive made decent progrss on this already =) and very happy how its looking ^_^ cannot wait to add the details and start painting!

Before i can get onto the actual title ill just do a bit of progress update, called epic win! you'll see why ;)

My solder finally came in the post today - WIN
I had more than enough fabric to finish cutting out the complete pattern - WIN
I had enough Foam to make the hip guards more rigid - WIN
I somehow managed to make my pouldrens from scratch without even knowing what i was doing in half a daze - WIN
I was given more plastic for my gems (now on 9/23) - WIN
I managed to get expanding foam for almost 1/2 the price it normally costs - WIN
I found cheaper sources for my battery packs cutting the costs down by about £9 - WIN
I have Clear varnish left over so i can coat my pouldrens - Win
all the fabric for the harness has been cut and is working really well =D

See where this is going? haha anyway other than all that which im uber happy about I figured out ill need somewhere to store battery packs for my back pannel lights, then it came to me, this is the first cosplay i can actually have pockets in without people seeing! SCORE! so i have cut out the fabric ready to put in, for 3 pockets which wont be seen but will be really easy for me to get to and store things in without a bag =) like cosplay repair bits, money and a phone and camera ^_^ cosplay not practical? it is now 8D

I also managed as stated to get my pouldrens done, theres still more painting to do but i am majorly happy! they just appeared out of nowhere in the space of a few hours.

Now onto the WONDERFLEX....what can i say? I'm being sent some wonderflex which will be used on this project! being sent by www.wonderflexworld.com manager. This is going to make my life for this project a lot easier and cannot wait to get using it! I have a lot planned i can use it for, lets hope it works ^_^ ill give full reviews on teamtimes with pictures when its done =)

(i swear these entries are getting longer)

....and at this rate ill be finished by the end of march XD (i wish)

So I am writting another journal entry! yeah..... I ran out of gold paint a few days ago, and turned myself into a babbing bafoon about part of the cosplay i thought i knew about, but now fter a few days sitting thinking about it im ready to roll again, and i've also bought some white thread and some more gold paint as i seemed to have run out of gold >.< however its looking good! one thing i can say i feel like this is my best yet and cannot wait to sew what i've done so far together.... HOWEVER I now have to put it on hold for a week =( I have a room to decorate tidy blitz and a website to get up =\but hopefully after that i can get the sewing machine out ooooo *so excited* but with 14 weeks to go.... erm why am i stressing about getting it done in time already? Well I still got ALOT to do, most of it detail, but still its alot,

:- Collar
:- Pouldrens
:- Top
:- Sewing
:- Electronics
:- Back Ring
:- Harness
:- Wings (feathers and mounting feathers)
:- Boot covers
:- Painting on Detail
:- Style wig
:- Details
:- END

well thats a rough idea, going to plan it out so that i can hopefully finish it a couple of weeks before so i can adjust anything if i need to, transport it upto london and maybe even give it a full try out because my wings are currently being stored in london (the frames) and will stay there until AFTER the event DX Well i guess thats enough essay, needed to get it off my chest, probably be another one like this at some point lol not for 10 weeks i hope =P

So there seems to be many effective way of making Gems. Overall i think i looked at 5 techniques 3 of which i considered and then opted out of due to cost. I really wanted to make resin gems however it would cost way too much for what i want to achieve (especially the giant top gem) So when making lunch as i went to get a pear i looked at the packaging and thought "why do i have to vacuum form my own plastic when someone else has already done it for me!" the shape of the pear packet was PERFECT for a few of my gems, however i'll need more, I better start eating a lot healthier XD I used the same technique for the top of my staff and it worked wonders =) no one realised that i'd used a coke bottle for the crystal! So wth nail varnish at the ready im trying this out, and so far it looks awesome (IMO of course) Nail varnish just makes sure it sticks and gives it a decent pearlescent effect =) actually liking the fact its thicker in some parts it looks like the ligh is shining through a real precious gemstone ^_^

(i really dont think anyone else here blogs as much as this =S)

Today has been really productive, I cut out lots of fabric for different things, the belt (which was left over fabric from another project) the hip guards, the "necklace" and other details. I also painted on more details and found leftover fabric from another previous project that is a slightly lighter red for the back (YAY!) which is a thick fake suade. Also for the first time i tried using some Iron on studs, i will liek to say this was very sucessful only one fell off and thats because i didnt heat it well XD so if i need studs again i will defo try these =)

on a plus side during my rummaging to see what fabrics i had i also found a light white weight net fabric which will be perfect for the basse of my wings =) SCORE!

Yeah.. not so amazgin as the title sounds but just as disasterous. MY brother decided to come in and walk all over the bits id done whilst they were still wet, thankfully a wet scourer spounge got the worst off, just taking it stage by stage to oget it off >.<

so for the last 2 days since i got home all i have been doing is cutting and painting. I've managed to paint the back pannel and cut out details to sew on it, paint the details on the white part of the top cut out more fabric for the necklace collar bit which has all its studs layed out on it ready to be ironed on, and i've started on the painful task of drawing and cutting out feathers... which is where i wish i had a few slaves to help lol. oh well it will be more worth it at the end if i do it on my own.... right?

with a lack of patient and waiting to get home to start i thought i would start whilst im still in london just incase i need more fabric! Truth be told... i couldnt wait any longer. so today i have Drawn my pattern out on paper after quick small sketches covered in measurements and dived straight into the cutting after that, sp pleased so far, i managed to buy the exact amount of fabric i needed for a change, i usuallyoverbuy (not that thats a bad thing) but im enjoying it =D Cant wait to start sewing and putting it together, the more i make cosplays the better i get i feel and the easier things become =)

The wings are actually put together 2 more adjustments nd they will be ready to attatch to the corset and feather up =D the reason for adjustment is pure choice of wanting them to fold in a little more and the main top wing is too long, although aion wings are huge... this is a little OTT XD

Hmm, there are many ways to make wings with feathers, most people Buy feathers and shape them, only issue is feathers do not exist in Aion wing size! What do? I found many options.

1. Make each feather from foam
2. Make feathers from sticky back plastic and wire
3. Make Feathers from Card
4. Make feathers from Fabric
5. Make feathers from grease proof paper

Now all the above options have been used by other cosplayers and all look really effective, my only problem is which to choose? I may have to opt for card due to size, stability and movement. though maybe making the smaller feathers from one of the other options as these wings will move, and cards not flexible enough for that unless i use split pins maybe? *long hard ponder*

Picture of Progress by
dinotiste (cosplay.com) from Belgium on her feathers

yup yup I have all the things i need now to make the main structure of the wings so its time to get going a template was made, it worked they fold and everything! next to cut out the tubing and bold it all together and add loops of something to make handles and done ready for feathering.... which also have to all be made because feathers arent that big.

Bargin after bargin of materials i've been finding lately so im majorly happy ^_^ i've cut down a lot of my cosplayu materials cost by half! and they're 3 times the quality they should be for the price SCORE! Also cant wait to give tassel making a go (doing this as buying them is more expensive) someones offered to help me with my electronics even suggested having them on a remote O.O this shall be interesting!

I Have lED's i have wire, Bits n bobs of cosplay are slowly appearing =D alls getting exciting, so i thought i would share my drawing from my sketchbook with you ^_^ i dont have a camera now so not many pictures =(

I felt like i never gave too much thought into the details on this costuem, the bones are literally stuck on, and they look it too, so im taking it back and re-doing parts including the make-up which i also rushed and didn't think about. Putting my staff aside for once and taking a skull instead and possibly using my staff i used for my sylvari instead.

Im updating this cosplay with a few halloween props for the fun of it, including a skull which its eyes light up and pumpkin serum and maybe even candy corn... (if i can find any)

Finally got sawing out part and making the buckle in the last few weeks the sketch book is filling up and all ive spent so far in 98p looking out for bargains and the right materials searching and browsing shops =) i will post some images later of sketches, maybe ;)

I finally got my sketchbook and have been drawing away breaking down the cosplay into manageable bits, each part I've written out how I'm planning on making it, what materials to use and the method, with a "blue print" like drawing dimensions and so on, I'm hoping that this will help me a lot more, especially with the wings! Also enjoying doing this, i get a feel of the shapes of each part too, i done a similar thing with my sylvari, but not as much or as detailed as this.

I started doing research as of 2 days ago, and I have already learnt so much, and with other information i have also known and learnt with my Sylvari project i can safely say i am defiantly excited! this project has got me working on Moving wings, which i have wanted to do for a long time, and more electronics than i thought possible O.o making my own circuitry this time however and using some new material such as Plastazote, Resin, 3D Fabric paint, soldering iron and Wood. And using some old fav's such as Heavy fabrics, a technique i picked up from 30Secondminionspawn, Foam, well i guess you will have to wait and see about the rest.

I haven't done much yet, however i will be buying myself a scrap book tomorrow to start putting all my info collection links diagrams material and wig options electric circuit information in and so on =)

when i write a journal entry from that point on i shall be using my Book for photos rahter than just random images, hopefully you will be able to understand better, however some things i won't be posting up ;) I want to keep people excited about seeing the final cosplay and really keen to see it all working =D

That's all for now ^_^

Luna x

WOW! I wore the cosplay and ive never received so many comments! And i felt comfortable beside my partner in Crime =P who helped me so much and supported me over the weekend. an her mum and everyone else

i still cant believe we came away with first place =D

FINALLY! i literally have one popper to sew on nand the entire cosplay IS FINISHED! *dies* its been a long journey but =D its bee worth it ^_^ i also done a make-up test last night not sure if i like it, will probably change a fair few bits bit here's a pic anyway enjoy the lols =P

I've finally been able to wear bits and pieces of it! so got mum to take a snap shot on my phone, the skirt weighs roughly 3lbs yes its heavy its held together by a leather belt super glue, stitching, hooks and eyes and of course nails xD yeah without the nails this thing would have fallen apart right now!

Title says all, i spent 6 hours dyeing fabric today, my first time gradient dyeing and it was awesomely fun! until the clouds showed up and slowed down the drying T_T but i made my own washing line inside the poly tunnel and set up my own work station <3 so fun! all of the skirt was and is dry and i've been putting it all together and constructing my armour! so pleased with it now!! watch this space tomorrow there shall be more progress O=

Getting there really am just a bit more on one glove and a boot cover and machine sewing is done then i have to hand sew a tiny bit before dyeing all the fabric! which i have calculated is going to take 10 hours roughly O= and on sunday i get my card eeep so maybe by monday it might look like something xD im also going to take pics after ive dyed the fabric when its drying on the washing line lol

I literally not have 2 and a half weeks to finish this! EEEEEEEP so todays is concentrating purely on this! hopefully going to get all the sewing done today so i can Dye fabric on Friday and put it all together at the weekend *fingers crossed*

disaster? well my wig refuses to style xD so not so disaster im going to be dyeing my hair instead =D and using that ^_^ What a better way huh? so gonna have a few practice runs of styling my own hair before expo see if i can get what i want =3

right no more time for this LETS GET SEWING!!!!!!!!

wow 26 more days to go and i realize how much more ive got left to do, after now completing the "butt armor" and the staff, i now need to finish the gloves boot covers top and "breast plate" and adjust the head dress and have a go at styling the wig again dye insert card inserts put all together and hey presto...... it should be complete O.o but with other things standing in the way i feel like imma gonna struggle >.< but i will do this! I WILL!!!!!

so i've spent 2 hours sanding today and another 4 painting my staff again, i was that unhappy i had to paint over it, the sanding was the "butt armor" as my mother like to call it was trying to get it ready to paint buuut its still not done enough >.< so setting myself a deadline to get it done by tuesdayy =D

Yup gloves gloves gloves =Dthis is the start of 2 of an odd pair of gloves, they're currently slightly too big, need dying aaaaand the top piece needs adding, part from that they are comfey warm and awesome, kinda proud my first gloves =S

So happy, and yet not, i got my LED's today for my staff, Was mega happy, then a wire came loose............ so was very pissed off the person i got them off got an angry e-mail and then... 20 minutes later i managed to fix them lol. so i guess that's a bonus? they're all installed and stuff, and picture has been uploaded thought they were quite smexy =D though now the paper mache comes into its own skill and i need to do it carefully and epicly D= but im sure i can manage, once thats done it can be painted.

all fabric bits that need doing have been cut out =3 they just need sewing and dyeing ........then its just a matter of putting it all together =\

Already chosen my next armour project cant wait to start on that either now xD

So my wig arrived today and i styled it within an hour of it getting here, and now Luka is complete =3 so thrilled! *dances around* so i wont get any proper pics until after MCM expo but until then =P have some cam whore pics xD

My second layer of mush is almost dry =3 next masking tape, add lights and light detailing to paper layering, let that dry then sanding before painting =3 then add crystal which is yet to be made. im so excited on how this is coming along so far =3 so pleased. Tonight though i was sitting down planning Boots/shoes now i was going to make them but now have pretty much decided and made covers instead a ha im quite pleased so far since i made a pattern and cut out fabric and pinned it in the space of 2 hours and i mean they ain't easy shoes xD so pretty chuffed, will upload pics when i've got on a bit more ^_^

finally today i got my charms for my chain =3 a bit annoyed though it seemed the reason they were late is they decided to visit romania and germany in the process, oh well they're here now YIPEE! (though i thought they sent me just foam they were that well wrapped - YAY FOR FOAM) and today i got paid soooo i bought the skirt too, that will be here by mid next week =3 (i hope) so then the cosplay should be pretty much done by then ^_^

I've not done too much on this lately most biggest reason is money and being highly annoyed at the back piece of my cosplay. I took someones advice and it failed miserably so i went back to sme tutorials and had a look around and found some real inspiration that i hope i can use well this also has given me an opportunity to make another prop too ^_^ which i guess is good. I thank a lot to my uncle though for giving me a ton of expanding foam =3 (enough to fill the interior of a reasonable sized car) hoping to get on with more tomorrow, sewing friday and then hopefully im back on track =3 still got stuff to buy for this including material =S but im getting there.

Getting along nicely now despite no pictures being uploaded. Im currently cutting out fabric and pinning it together ready for sewing, im disputing weather to dye it or sew it first, but considering the gradient patterns im going for sew =3 plus then if its not right i dont have to go back and start over and buy more dye if it doesn't go together ok =P might do some more tomorrow but i fel ive done a fair bit already today (on 4 cosplays) and might take a break =3

Well not being able to talk to the one person who gives you motivation is a big bummer to me! it makes me get stressed, it makes me make BIG mistakes and other such things, so i put it on hold and finally i got my mojo back =3 Thanks to a few friends putting up their amazing progress and giving me new cosplay projects to work on made me think about and get on with this one some more! I've started working with material now! WAHOOO! the petals are underway and well i will need more fabric but tomorrow i think ill do the pattern for the top, gloves and boots too! and carrying on with my Sakura Miku! (the cherries are fun to make what can i say xD) and some more work on the back of the skirt, as some of the mod roc was rought but thats sorted =3it just needs a re paint ^_^

and if shes reading this, (the person im coplaying this with) I miss you =(

Oh i hate having to wait for money to spend on cosplay it means things go so slowly! i have almost finished the back of my skirt, is just needs some more paint. the "head dress" is going to have some large adjustments to it as im not liking some of my current results with it, i have my fabric to get on with the top and other bits boots gloves e.c.t and i have just manages to clear the table to do so too =3

reason this is taking so slow atm is due to stuff like interviews and well what can i say i love GW and there was a new update and i was hooked xD hopefully getting on with more today and some more later in the week ^_^

Well theres not too much to make with Luka, however there s a few bits to buy and the headset to make n stuffs. So sofar i baught some chain tom make for the skirt gong to be buying some star charms n shizz to go on that, i've also bought a long sleeved top =3 which fit real nice and is cosey i thought it was quite lukaish too =) all i need to get or make is skirt and boots =D in mid way of making headphones.. well they're almost finished ^_^ just another coat of paint, the LED's came today which are really awesome, i love them they work perfectly =D

this is just about done =) im actually impressed with myself that i didnt go down the same route as most ebay sellers do and just poof it and add clips, because thats not how Asukas hair is! So i've tried getting it as close as i can to the actual anime =) all i need now is the hair clips =D

Having tonnes of 3D paint left over i thought i should and so i have added Veins to the head, because its really needed to make it more plant like =3 so thats now on the side.. drying and stuff will be painted tomorrow, (i hope) as for the flowers, finally they're done theres a bit of touch up needed for the veins on them but one layer at a time i keep telling myself patience is a virtue xD with months to go i feel im getting along with this too easily. the real challenge the top, the boots and the lgoes and the gradient dye O.o

?been working on the flowers again, also done a few planning drawings/sketches of the rest of it i have to do, how im going to attach it all together e.c.t, my poor fingers though, as i've been using super glue for most of this to assure that it wont fall apart a few tubes have burst in my hands today it wasnt pleasant, after a long soak and getting rid of 99% of the glue they are now just sore, but thats not going to stop me from carrying on with even MORE painting tomorrow and to cut out a few more petals to fill in a few gaps =)

Well i've been working on this cosplay like a trooper today whilst thinking about the commission someone else has asked me to do, I've made 4 purple flowers for it and done a lot of painting though it looks almost like nothing, i'm hoping to get on with a lot more tomorrow maybe even getting into the fabric side of things =)

unfortunately i cant upload progress pics, my memory card has gone wild and i cant find it! BOOOO so next time will just have to be an even bigger update =)

the "oh hell!" that because i updated my shopping list and realized how much i've spent on this cosplay, i think it will be worn more than once and looked after a lot xD who ever told me "its cheaper to make your own than to buy" was on something at the time, i budget i go for as cheap as i can without it looking crap, but geeeez over £70 and i estimated i could do this for £40? pffft lol i think that was in my dreams xD

rigth the shoes i was going to do for this arent wearable, another pair of shoes i could have worn for this are also now non wearable ¬_¬ im so anoyed and upset so im now going on the search for shoes for it T_T

i looked at my reference pictures not too long ago and remembered there's 4 flowers to do, i've now run out of foam and other materials i need to finish whats left. now i've gotten started though it feels like theres not too much to do to the costume at all and if i have the money i may even make a second =D however saying this i still have no idea how i am approaching the boots, gloves and top yet. Hopefully i can order the wig though, and when i go over to my friends for a cosplay workshop session ill be able to help her and she can possibly give me ideas =D for now i hope the next pic upload pleases eople who are watching the progress =)

aye aye aye *le sigh* well it was hard work but im getting there, after stressing for days on end about how i was going to do this i picked up the courage and dived in head frst, since its my first time spray painting and first time heat forming craft foam i was quite chuffed with the results =) there more of these to gome, well petals and 2 larger purple flowers, here's hoping i don't muck those up, these are big and fiddly enough! lol

I bought my fabrics today =) well a few of them the lady in the shop was very useful about dying fabric and how it should be done what fabric is best and what would look organic as that's the feel I'm trying to go for, must make it look as natural as possible ^_^ so i got some dye-able fabric for the gloves top and leg wraps ( i may need a bit more shouldn't do though) then i got the purple fabric for my shoes =) so im set to start on one part.. or am i? not quite, i think i want to make a pattern for it all first =) ive already made one for the head decoration =)

I spent about 3 hours working on it im kinda pleased with it, it cost me nothing to make as all items were recycled, this will be attached to the headband and ears when they're done =) I didnt quite use a tutorial i read a few and then made it form the best bits of those tutorials i found.

made from:
foam
beads
velvet
wire
ribbon

Putting this one back to "in progress" because im giving her a complete new re vamp ready for May 2011 including crown parasol and a different wig, the crowns been made and i need new ears too! e.c.t so cant wait =) since shes and original character i can do what i like to her i guess that part of the fun ^_^

I bought my ears! yes you heard right =) my first prosthetic i have ever had to by... not including wigs =P i've been having a lot of fun putting them on using eyelash glue to keep them secure =) it works amazingly well, i've also added a bit of make up and sprayed it with hair spray to make it a little more realistic skin colour, using the make-up im going to on the day ot help make sure its the perfect match and blends in.

trying not to give too much away, but ive been trying to do some reasearch in where to get materials costs of them what i need, colours and how to construct, because even though there is sewing there isn't much and im not entirely sure how to put the rest together/costruct, found a few amasing tutorials online and here's hoping i can pull them off ^_^
