Cosplay & Convention News

We try to keep our members up to date with the latest cosplay news, event updates and competition announcements, as well as anything of general interest to cosplayers! We also occasionally use this to inform everyone of any major site changes. If you know anything interesting that we haven't mentioned, or are an event or competition organiser with any press releases, please drop an email through to and we'll spread the word.

A fond farewell!

As I mentioned last week we’re closing the showcase for a while as we do some work on the site, but for the last one we thought we’d take the opportunity to showcase someone who’s utterly going to hate it, but deserves it! So this week’s showcase isn’t really about the costume, but the person - we present Perrin :D

Perrin is stepping down from the Cosplay Island team to focus on his own projects, and we want to give a huge, massive thanks to him for all the work of the last many years. Without him, the site would never have made it online, never would have had so many features and would have been super ugly! From the initial version of the site to what we have now, thank you for all your hard work and dedication, the late nights and strange adventures!

See you space cowboy~

New UK representatives!

This weekend at MCM Comic Con London the UK qualifiers for two international competitions were held, and our UK representatives were chosen!

For the long running World Cosplay Summit (WCS), we're sending Moonlilly and Frederica la Noir off to Japan to compete for us in summer, wowing the audience with their costumes of Sakura Kinomoto and Yuuki Ichihara from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle.

For the International Cosplay League (ICL), a new european cosplay competition this year with the September finals in Madrid, we're sending a duo and a single entry to fly the flag. The solo entry went to Apollo Cosplay as Angela from Marvel, and the duo are KingdomCrafts as Yuna and Valefor from Final Fantasy X.

A massive congratulations to all the reps, and well done to everyone that entered - we saw some amazing costumes over the weekend!

Spring Cleaning & changes ahead

Hello all~ Spring is a time for change, and we have a lot of that coming up on the site! We’re doing some spring cleaning, a server move and a new focus in future for cosplay Island which we hope you’ll all enjoy. It’ll be a busy few months over here at CI Headquarters!

This is an initial heads up to all our users - over the next few weeks we’ll be decommissioning a few of the older parts of the site, features that are not used or we don’t feel they are up to standard anymore. A few other features will be taken offline temporarily while we do the move & upgrades, and will be relaunched in the future. These changes are purely to do with additional site features, and we won’t be making any changes to your profiles or costumes. So what’s changing very soon? Read on!
