Anime events this July

Welcome to another monthly event update on Cosplay Island. Many of you will no doubt be attending Amecon on 13th-15th August for a weekend of solid anime fun. If you can't wait until then to get your event fix though, then there is plenty happening this month to keep you occupied. So read on for a full round up of what's to come.

WOTA London (Friday 16th July 2010)

Now on its seventh event, WOTA is a club night featuring Japanese club music for anime and gaming fans. Held at The Fluid Bar near Barbican, London, WOTA features DJs and performers whom have played other anime events such as Ayacon, Kitacon, MCM Expo and The Grand International Cosplay Ball. Bristol Cosplay Clubnight (Saturday 17th July 2010)

For those who want to party but can't make it to WOTA, there is the option of the eighth Bristol Cosplay Clubnight the following day! Held at The Cavern Club underneath The Crown Pub in the centre of Bristol, this fun event features DJ sets of anime themes, J-Pop, J-Rock and even some western music. LFCC: London Film & Comic Con (Saturday 17th July - Sunday 18th July 2010)

A event similar in vein to the MCM Expo but with a heavier focus on autograph signing, LFCC is starting to provide some focus on anime. Anime will be screened throughout the day, along with signings and talks from voice actors Dante Brasco and Wendee Lee. There will also be a dedicated cosplay zone, featuring various cosplay and EGL (Elegant Gothic Lolita) activities. It is another event which you will need to travel to the Big Smoke for though, as it is held in Earls Court 2. Visit the website for more information:

Birmingham Cosplay Double Event (Friday 30th July)

With London being the main location for events this month, it is good to see one nearer the centre of England happening. Held at The Custard Factory in Birmingham, the first half of this 'double' event starts at 2pm and comprises of various workshops. These include the cosplay techniques of sewing, repairing, prop making and the performance of dance and art, with refreshment available at each workshop. The second half of the event will be a Cosplay Ball and which you can don your glad rags or finest cosplay and waltz until 10pm. Entry to the event is cheap and all profits go to charity.

Kukki Con (Friday 30th July - Saturday 1st August 2010)

Disappointed with the cancellation of Tokonatsu 2010? Well there is a still chance for you to camp out with fellow anime fans as new event Kukki Con has appeared on the event radar. Held on a farm located in Rutland, Kukki Con focuses on party games with events such as Cosplay Gladiators, Giant Twister and a Pocky Relay Race all happening. Other fun activities include a Bouncy Castle and Water Gun Fights alongside staples such as bring and buy, disco and skit performances.
