Lois Lane
Superman

Cosplayer: Ranma1-2

Variant: Margot Kidder

Status: Planned

Condition: Not Set

This costume has not been worn at any events yet.

12th August 2009: 12 Aug 09 Had some fun last night trying out different skirts and blouse combinations. We decided a co-ordinated black and white theme looks really promising (and also very summery and 1950's).

On the lookout now for a large white hat and some suitable shoes to go with the outfit..

I have to wonder what people think when you go shopping for cosplay components xD

That is a very good point!

Shopping - When I am brave enough (or running out of time and desperate) I go into high street shops and tell them what I am making and what I need and we all have a laugh about it, like finding a flesh coloured bra for Nehelenia's costume. After I described it the girl in Peacocks thought I was a pantomime dame. Close. But she helped me find exactly the right bra. ^_^
A lot of stuff like these things for Lois Lane come from my wife when she has one of her crazy clothes clearouts..I save anything that's potentially usefull for cosplay. Her 'too small' things actually fit me quite nicely. =P
But also eby is a great place to get affordable stuff with no fuss. So wigs, shoes makeup etc. Lots of different sources really.. ^^ My local habdashery shop knows me well enough now - I have shown them pics of some of the finished cosplays and they are impressed how good they look. One time though I was buying fabric in the market and this girl was starring at me as if to say how come this dude knows so much about dressmaking!! But I just smiled because she only knew the half of it. ^^

^_^ I figured you would like this.
I'll stick up some makeup test pics. These were actually done for Mars when I was experimenting with makeup and some friends said it reminded them of Margot Kidder.
My gosh, Superman!..that is one very tough cosplay to do. Even Christopher Reeve had to pile on a lot of extra weight to look the part. Unless you know how to make a muscle suit... :)

Captain_Marvelous avatar

Captain_Marvelous - 20th August 2009
Ah fantastic makeup shots, i can see it already. And tbh Classic Superman isnt actually massivly huge he's just big, I really kinda wanted to steer clear of the muscle suit and do the supes I know so im gonna see whats what and possibly try and shift a little more weight either way im very confident im doing him for Mayexpo as well as green lantern and Captain Marvel :) *im suprised so many people are intrested in the DC group*

*chrissy Got the superman job by leaping of something, the director was so impressed he got the job on the basis he could bulk up a little. I love trivia!*

In that case go for it! Although I suspect somebody 'close' ;) might want to be your Lois so she can grab your buns of steel... =P

you know you really do resemble her in those make-up test shots!!!!

can tell already its going to be a bloody brilliant piece of crossplaying =]

Better hope that person dosent have magnets in their hands then ^.^ the power of resistance I dont have :)

When do you plan this for then?

Ranma1-2 avatar

Ranma1-2 - 21st August 2009
Thanks Toshi-chan. I had been experimenting with M2F makeup and went a lil overboard with the contouring - this was the result, but some friends said "you know you remind me of..." so that was that. But it will be so nice to just put a closet cosplay together for a change.

Ryuk - It was going to be for the Town and Country show in a couple of weeks time. Some of my friends dared to wear one of my costumes to it - next time I saw them I told them the costume was 'under way' they all suddenly bottled out and said they wouldn't walk around with me if I actually did it. Wusses. ^^
So when I get all the clothes items together I will do a quick photoshoot and then keep it in reserve as a nice easy cosplay for whenever.

Well it would be sweet for the DC group if catwoman dosent fall through, the beaty is your in the only place in britan where people would recognise you with dc characters lol either way keep at it ^.^

Ranma1-2 avatar

Ranma1-2 - 26th August 2009
Cheers. I will keep at it. :)
Memro show in Nov is also a possibility - there's often a Superman walking around there. Might be able to get him to stand with me for a photo. ^_^

Agh im now excited for this to be at Expo! Really hope you end up doing it for then, Its one of the only reasons im taking Superman! XD

Ps: When you end up doing it Please bring Notebook and Pen :P Would make your outfit look Super Bad!

Ranma1-2 avatar

Ranma1-2 - 9th August 2010
Notebook - Okies ^_^ So long as I can get down there early enough to get into cos and do this. At the mo I have no idea what time we will be getting down there, except that my friend isn't working on fri this time so I don't have to wait for him to get home. As long as he is up for it I can try and set off in the morning.
I wonder if the cosplay changing rooms will be set up and useable for Fri since Expo weekend is open on Fri this time.. I'll have to find out. :S

Ranma1-2 avatar

Ranma1-2 - 11th October 2010
redheadgirl - Thanks. I try my best :) For the Friday cosplay makeup will be a bit different from these test shots. I'll try to get closer to Lois's evening look. And similarly the costume I want to go for is the white chiffon dress from the night time scenes..Including the Superman exclusive interview. :P

Captain_Marvelous avatar

Captain_Marvelous - 11th October 2010
I meant to say, how tall are you? just thinking about height diffrences between us for shots, in my regular feet in 6.2 in the superboots probably closer to 6.3?

Ranma1-2 avatar

Ranma1-2 - 11th October 2010
I'm only 5'7" ^_^ ..up to 5'11" with 4" heels.

Captain_Marvelous avatar

Captain_Marvelous - 11th October 2010
So we are golden then? :) I imagined you to be taller :)

Ranma1-2 avatar

Ranma1-2 - 11th October 2010
Yep we are good. ^_^
Hmm yeah only 5-7 Thats why I can get away with normal womens shoe sizes too. (only size 7) ;) ..So you see why I am more suited to crossplays.

(Apparently Ray Park is 5'9" so I guess I can just about get away with my Maul cosplay).
