7th April 2015: Showcase!! Thank you so much for the showcase!! <3
11th February 2015: Make up test I decided that a white face might work as Charlotte's face is White. I used a circle pad sponge to create the circles on the cheeks and then used grey/black eyeshadow to create hollows for my eyes. My circle lenses arrived and they are white because I couldn't afford the huge sclera black lenses. I wanted the eyes to make an impact so I decided White would work best. I then added layers of eyelashes and mascara to build up dark eyes. I'm happy with how this looks!!
9th February 2015: Work on the face decal Making the face for the back of the cape started out simple until I researched that the face is different in different canon references so I mashed up two designs and incorporated my 3D eyes and teeth. I've cut out their respective holes in the fake suede and intend to add on the extras with foam so that I have a consistent material and look to it. I will attach the fake suede segment to a circle of black and pad between the two the make the face stand out more, as it is pushing through my back.
7th February 2015: Basic Mock Up I cut out my patterns for the sleeves and modified the design to make the sleeves become 2 meters long. This is because Charlotte has really long sleeves and I worked out that with my size I can use at least 2 meters to create the right look. This is how the outfit should look when all together. I'm so happy with how well it all looks together!!
4th February 2015: Waistcoat sewing Started to sew together the gaberchino and lining for my waistcoat and I only need to add Velcro to it so that it can close. I was really worried that because I'm not experienced at sewing that it won't turn out okay but I'm proud of what ive achieved!
2nd February 2015: Cape Finished! So I have seen both the crushed velvet lining and the gaberchino outer cape together and it feels so warm!! I love the weight of it and how the bottom edge fans out in a bat wing sort of way.
1st February 2015: Cape half done The outer and lining parts of the cape are sewn so now I just have to sew them together! I'm using gaberchino as the red outer fabric and black crushed velvet as the lining. The crushed velvet was so that the inside looks bigger and has a shine to it to make it look more mysterious and magical.
28th January 2015: Wig 99% done! Tried on my neck scarf and wig and they sit quite nice!! Wearing them has let me see how they will feel and I know I need to put make up on after I put on my scarf. I just added two yellow circles similar to Charlotte's face but I want to try a full make up test soon with a white face and contouring.
21st January 2015: Cape Pattern! Finally found patterns for a waistcoat and cape. I've modded the waistcoat to fit Charlotte's long pointed waistcoat design. I've also found a nice full cape pattern but will just not make the hood as it's not needed. I'm making sure to make my seams/hems nice and neat. I've never sewn properly before and didn't really understand why it has to be neat if nobody sees it. I then started practice sewing and apart from it looking professional and tidy, it also makes sure that the seams won't break, especially with heavy duty clothing such as my cape.
13th January 2015: Fabric has finally arrived! I ordered the fabric I needed way back in December so it's taken quite a while to arrive! I couldn't do much without it so I've been waiting all this time! It's my first go at using fabric other than cotton so I ordered some gaberchino, crushed velvet, and dress lining so I can also line my outfit. I've never made a full outfit by myself so this will be a real test. I now have to plan what patterns to use and how big to make them. As a plus size cosplayer it's harder to find plus size patterns so I need to rely on taking measurements carefully and creating my own patterns to fit my body. Unfortunately I don't have a dress makers mannequin to help with this but if I raise enough money in the future I want to purchase one as it seems a wise investment.
10th January 2015: Editing the music As part of our performance for the masquerade we need specific music. I began to design a track with two halves, the first being a description of witches and magical girls to which my cosplay partner Alouette and dance to. The character talking in the track is then eaten and dies (a link to her dying the same death in the movie) to which my partner will react. I will then come on stage and we will fight. It's a well thought out performance as it's almost like a play. I can't wait to perform to it on stage.
8th January 2015: Wig Arrived I bought a wig with two clip on pony tails so that I could fashion them into curves at the sides. Charlotte has two shapes on her head which resemble a sweetie wrapper so I want to try get this with my wig. The wig came extremely dirty so it took a while to clean it and then I realised it was quite thin. Working with the wig was very hard but finally managed to get the two side shapes using glue and hairspray and have her front hair parting with just hair spray. I layered the wig also and made sure to make all the fringe straight and feathered nicely.
5th January 2015: Follow me eyes Started looking into fursuit 'follow me eyes' for my plush structure charlotte's face. I looked on tutorials online and created my own design for it. It's hard as all the tutorials use a base of a real eye shape whereas mine will be more oval. It also shows how harder it is to pull off as the fursuit eyes are mainly white but mine will have multiple colours and an our black colour. I've made a rough prototype to which will sit in the face of the giant plush so that it had a more 3d look.
3rd January 2015: Magical pluff! Wire didn't work with my neck scarf but I worked around it and created a structure with craft foam padding that is thicker at the back of the neck. It creates a nice slope behind the head. I also puffed up my bloomers! I feel so big when I wear them both!
21st December 2014: Teeth! Never made teeth before and was worried about buying teeth as it'd hard to find good looking teeth but also my own teeth are not perfect so fake teeth would not fit correctly in my mouth. Found teeth fitting plastic which melts in hot water so I used it to create a mould of my teeth then began to cut and glue on fake nails. It took a while to get the right shape and size for them but I'm happy with how they turned out!
19th December 2014: Neck Scarf Came up with multiple ideas on how to make her neck scarf puffy and big and finally decided to modify a pattern for hair scrunchies but make it using a metre of red spotted fabric. It's really big on it's own but I've decided to add some wire to create a structure to keep it held up and then pad out the inside with stuffing.
17th December 2014: Plans and Bloomers! Came up with the idea to make a cosplay for Charlotte today! Decided on making both her harmful and harmless form so I'm going to research into harness making and how to make a structure that I can carry on my back all day. Began with making a piece of the cosplay I know I can make which are the bloomers. I used two meters for each leg so they are really puffy! I need to make a petticoat to puff it out more.

Ranma1-2 - 18th February 2015
Great work on your stage performance - it showed a lot of thought and planning went into it. My fave performance from the masquerade competition. Well done! :)
Monkey - 19th February 2015
I was one of the judges at Midlands Comic Con and I just wanted to say that I was really impressed with your work. I loved what you ended up doing with the cloak and thought it really stood out, giving it interesting definition and depth. The make-up was really well done and I think perhaps the best application of all the make-up I had seen that day.
I already spoke to you guys in person about the performance and how close it came down to. I can't wait to see what you do again in the future. Well done on this cosplay and the performance! :)
