Yami Marik - Yugioh Duel Monsters

I chose this character because Yami Marik is my favourite character from Yugioh. I was scared to cosplay him as he looks so different from me. He's obviously far manlier. He's tan when I'm a ghost and his hair looked so insane. Ignoring all of that, I still adore the character and wanted to make a cosplay of it.

The hardest parts were the wig, rod, tan and the golden accessories. The easiest part was probably the earrings.

I learnt how to make Yugioh props from not just Yami Marik but also Ryou Bakura when I made both the millennium ring and the millennium rod.

It was amazing when I wore it. I was really nervous, especially as I was going to Alcon which LittleKuriboh and a ton of Yugioh fans would be at so I wanted to look good as him. It was amazing hearing people shout out Marik and really fun acting as him.

Wow, your Marik cosplay is amazing! *-* I love your wig and everything, it's fantastic! How have you managed to keep the spikes in place like that? I'm hoping to cosplay Bakura in May, so any tips/advice you could give would be a great help. Ah your cosplay is just superb *-* ~~

Wow I didn't imagine so many comments. @///@ Thank you everyone! I can't figure out how to reply to each comment so I hope you will all see my reply... @SamanthaKaiba: My friend styled the wig and then taught me how to do the upkeep of it and to restyle it as it often flops or comes apart. =) I've used tons and tons of Got2b styling glue spray and for two of the spikes it has some foam but the rest is just from spiking. I have to carry him around in a huge 3 foot box to and from the con. @Whitewraith: Thank you so much! The expressions were the hardest thing for me to do as I'm usually very stoic or apparently grumpy looking in real life but I know he's very much the opposite so I'm glad you think they are good. I had a lot of fun trying to do a different personality to my own. :) @MasterDarcy: Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. =) As mentioned above the spikes are a main in the ass as they often fall flat and I have to restyle the wig a lot. I carry spray with me as well as glue to the cons so I can fix it if anything messes up. :) Styling a Bakura wig is a lot easier as I made him with my friend before. I made Bakura the same way I made my millennium rod. I got two pieces of white foam, cut them in the style of the wig and then filled them with stuffing. I hot glued it all together and then stitched the wings into the wig head. I then with wig extensions started to place them over the shape of the bat wings. Sadly my friend accidentally ruined the wig before we managed to finish making it so we only made 2 of the spikes out of the four but you can see it here. http://julesie.deviantart.com/art/Yami-v-Hikari-395867317 I hope the link is allowed to be posted and shows. Hope it helps! Will you be at MCM as Bakura? If so I really, really want a photo with you! I'm a huge Yami Bakura fan and hope to cosplay him in the future!
