Yazoo - Final Fantasy: Advent Children

This was my first ever cosplay! I'm still proud of it, even though it's mostly been cannibalised into other outfits and what's left is falling apart!

Looking back now I can see all the errors I made. The sleeves are too loose, and if you look closely, you can see the parts I had to duct-tape.

A real learning experience, this one! But it gave me cosplay fever!

I adore Yazoo as a character. He represents the allure, strategic mindset and cold charm of Sephiroth. I only hope I did him justice the tiniest bit.

Thanks so much for looking!

UPDATE! I'm wearing the revised and improved version of this outfit to MCM Expo London, it will be it's convention debut! XXX

You already know I love this. :) Velvet - "Now what?" --now you round off the corner edges. I hope the wood is soft otherwise you could be at it for.. years. :P If you are o-fey with sharp tools, eg Stanly knife..chisels, you can use them to speed up the process. (but be very carefull with hands.. GOLDEN RULE - ALWAYS keep ALL parts of your body behind the cutting edge! Cut away from your body. (that way if the knife suddenly passes through the wood there is no flesh to slice into. If you obey that rule you will not get cut.) Then afterwards you can go in with sandpaper to smooth and refine the shapes. If I was making this the first thing I would do is get loads of ref pictures from different angles so I was familiar with the 3D shapes and how the constituant parts all go together. You might even find some places on the web selling replica Velvet props, from which you can 'borrow' their pics. Sometimes you can also buy small figurines complete with miniature weapons which you can use to copy from onto your larger version. Hope that's helpful. :)

My friend is right ^.^ get all the pics you can and saftey first. it also might be worth pausing the points in advent children *however scarse* when he uses it ^.^

I'm stuck!

I've managed to cut out the shape of the Velvet Nightmare (Yazoo's Gunblade) but I just don't know where to go from here, or how to shape what I've already got. My inexperience is really beginning to make me sad... This is so difficult!

Falling Apart!

After the first photoshoot, it became quickly apparent that the costume wasn't umm... Perhaps as sturdy as I might have imagined! My main priorities for MCM are:

1) Repair back of cape
2) Replace duct-taped areas with proper stitched pleather!
3) Alter sleeves, as they are HORRIBLY loose.

Please, PLEASE if any one has any advice for me I will be eternally grateful *huggles*
