Kuro - Shoulder-a-Coffin Kuro

Kitacon 2009

Kuro has such an awesome character design, and is incredibly loveable =3

This costume has been a rollercoaster of thrills, spills and stress, but it was worth every moment of it! The costume wasn't very widely recognised when I wore it, but with this particular outfit, I didn't think it really mattered ^^

The bulk of the costume was made in the space of a week, as a last minute rush for Kita. The outfit itself was made in 2 days, the coffin in a week by my wonderful boyfriend Death May Die. This costume also includes my first attempt at making a plushie! Sen was completely handmade from felt, and he was a great accessory to my costume - his number one fan is Efia! I'm so happy with the way this turned out, and really hope to be wearing it again sometime in the future - all dependent on my rather large prop of course!

I'm not sure what it is. There's just something about Kuro's character design that's completely adorable. You did this so well! You've really captured the essence of Kuro, I think. ^-^

Progress Journal

12th April 2009

So it's five days 'til Kitacon. Is this costume complete? No way! I wouldn't want to ruin the traditional last minute con rush, would I now? XD

Alex is working hard on the coffin, and it's looking great so far. Hopefully I can get some progress shots up soon. In terms of the costume itself, the coat's still in fabric-form and there is no hat to speak of. I managed to find myself some good shoes though (that cost me £10 rather than the £80 I initially had my eye on!), and my wig's cut and ready for action. The most I've actually done so far is spent time cutting out the template for a Sen plushie =3
Seeing as I seem to have misplaced my sewing needles, he's currently still in the template form.

So, I have four days remaining. 3 of which I'm at work. Wow, can anybody say 'stress'?
