Medic (Blu Medic with Quick Fix) - Team Fortress 2

FushiCon 2011

Blu Medic, started many years earlier in the form of basic lab coat (altered), blue gloves (thus blue side!) and standard clothes with some coat-hanger "glasses".

In 2011 finished it off with a main gun, backpack and added a belt I borrowed, as well as a little later proper boots. This took the major amount of time since most of it was built from scratch.

The variant of gun, the Quick Fix, I chose partially because it made it easier to source components (it literally is made out of random things in-game) and because it was simply a lot more interesting then the default gun. The backpack was much more fun to make then the box variant the original gun has.

The gun was my favourite part to make and use - it lights up! The battery lasts an 1-1.5 hours or so with on and off for photos or showing it off. The light itself (and basis of the gun) was brought years prior but is easy to find in Homebase, B&Q or whatever.

EDIT: The duration of the battery has decreased quite significantly, maybe to half an hour max on and off usage. I'm tempted to get it rigged up with LED's and a LiPo battery as a replacement for the lead one that is currently in there. This might also solve blinding people unnecessarily! I'll look to improving the pack too if I do this.

The detail is not entirely finished; and probably won't be, since it is a difficult thing to transport (trains are my enemy) and adding more detail only makes it more prone to being damaged.

How has this not been commented on yet!? Loved seeing in-person at Expo (I was the FF7 Yuffie asking about your QF) which is ofc my fav. aspect of it :]

Thanks! I won't sadly have time to improve it for Gemucon, but I'll try and fix it up more for MCM in May; there are several improvements I could make (including fixing the water!).
