Moist Von Lipwig - Discworld

I was going to be Teatime from Hogfather, but the cost of the contact lenses bothered me... as well as my ability to take photos accurately. So I decided on one that would allow me to use my actual eyes. I settled on Moist for.... reasons.

Having people come up to you and shout "YOU'RE MOIST!" is both as awkward and hilarious and you'd expect to be honest. But it happened. I got recognised a lot actually, far more than expected. Actually, aside from my Disney cosplays, it's the most I've been recognised in person in a cosplay. Which is, you know, fantastic.
I did get some kid asking if I was The Golden Snitch though. Well, A+ for 'most creative incorrect cosplay guess' ever I suppose.
I was a little nervous in this at the start of the day, mainly because I wasn't in a binder (mine had gone missing, but I was allowed to borrow one thank God) and I stuck out A LOT. Seriously, I was pretty bright and shiny. Once I got recognised though, I was much better. Also, my friend coming up to me and saying flatly "well you're gonna be hard to lose today" was pretty darn hilarious too.
I was pleased with shade of gold I picked. I wanted to go for a brighter shade, I was originally going to go for plain old yellow and maybe have some gold lace. But then I found this shade of gold, and it was a bit expensive but it was perfect ;;
The hat kept falling off, it's hard to sit back when you have feathers on your head, also the feathers themselves kept on falling out. But other than that, the costume held together really well.

Worn at:
Midlands Expo 2013
London Expo and Comic Com 2013
Manchester Expo and Comic Con 2013

Great effect on the photo with the falling letters :D Your suit looks really good, gold's a hard color to get right but you've really pulled it off. Great Moist!

Progress Journal

14th February 2013

Trousers = 95% done, just need to hem the bottom. Also take them in a bit because holy cow I actually have lost weight since last August.
Waistcoat = Rewearing my old Austria one. The duller gold actually works much better than the brown waistcoat I originally planned to use.
Jacket = Still needs buttons adding... said buttons have been bought though.
Hat = Peak has been made gold, rest still needs to be blinged up and feathered. May add the Post Office logo to it as well.

Jacket is 95% complete

Just need to add the buttons and it is complete 8D
It's a bit scratchy but it swooshes really nicely and I'm so happy with the colour.
Hopefully the trousers will be done soon and the hat, although I still need to do feathers.
