Jane Shepard (N7 Armour) - Mass Effect 3

My friend pulled me in to cosplay Jane Shepard earlier in 2012. Without knowing anything, and feeling like I wanted to try cosplaying with him, I agreed to it. I didn't know how awesome Shepard was until a month ago, when I decided that I was going to start playing Mass Effect. From that moment onwards, there was no pause. The first game was followed by the second, and then the third... At the end, I was blown away by the game.

Shepard is a character that I can wholeheartedly agree that he/she has the capability to save the galaxy. He/She's a leader, and I knew that if I met someone like Shepard in real life, I would follow this person to hell and back.

The events in South East Asia are mostly filled with cosplayers of the Eastern media, so being able to see Western cosplay is a kind of rarity. Though there's no shortage of gamers who play Western games, it's harder to find common folk who play and cosplay Western games. Maybe it's just that the majority of cosplayers here are females and they tend to prefer Eastern games and their prettier characters...

Anyway, I had a great time as Commander Jane Shepard at the event. I was able to meet fellow Mass Effect gamers at the event, take photos with them and even hear them crack ME-related jokes at us, like how one of the event volunteers welcomed us into the hall by calling it the Normandy! It's great to know that in an event saturated with Eastern influences, there are some people out there who are fans of Western media. I definitely am looking forward to completing more of my Western cosplays now.

Commander Jane Shepard will be out for another event, Cosfest XII at 6-7 July 2013, at the D'Marquee, Downtown East, Singapore.
