Information

Having only just seen Captain America and Avengers Assemble, and generally being on a MASSIVE marvel kick right now I decided it was about time to crack out a marvel cosplay.

After umming and ahhing over who to do, and spending half the Avengers movie taking mental cosplay refs I finally decided on the Cap (saving Loki for later, as I just can't get my head around his clothes!)

It was lovely to meet you at Ame, great costume Cap! :D

You were the source of so much amusement at Ame it's untrue. There was a genuine moment where a couple of us were sat and you walked past and it was the most surreal sense of Deja vu ever. You know one of those 'Why do I recognise this Cap?' moments? It was only after we realised you were also Viserys that everything finally clicked - and many jokes were made about Cap defending the Iron Throne. Still, random anecdotes aside, you really did make a very good Steve. n_n

Shield making

After consulting the wonderful members of CI on the forums just how to go about this shield I decided to go down the LARP shield, Plastazote foam route.
I'm rather proud of how it's come out so far and Im looking forward to painting it.
I have put two circles of cardboard together, with a circle of Plastazote foam, stuck together with glue. There are also two straps made from leather for gripping and the edge has been covered with Duct tape to give a smooth edge and also to allow for extra firm holding together. I then sprayed it with primer for painting and drew on a faint outline of the pattern for painting.
I'm intending to use some resin to add and extra coat over the top of the paint to seal it/harden the top layer. (not sure how well this will work but will give it a good go.)

BOOTS!

Also my boots arrived this week for Cap, now I just need all the red leather to turn them into proper Cap boots!

SO many seams

Made a little more progress today, started adding on the layers of padding to make it look more like actual armour. It's really starting to take the right shape which is really promising, especially as I keep looking at what I need to do and flailing.

Beginnings!

Over the past week or so I have made a start on the main body of the top for Cap.
I've done a base out of suiting (I never intended to use this, and need to go hunt something stretchy) and will be building on that to achieve something akin to the seam work he has all over. My mind breaks a little more every time I look at the close up shots of the costume.
