Fairy Godmother + Prince Charming - Shrek

Just a little bit of fun this time, me - (obviously) FG, Hollz - Charming.

This has to be an easy make, I can't face any more beads or face paint (just yet anyway)

I've made a start on buying the fabric, only trouble is I can't decide which FG costume to do - the blue one or the red sequin, dancing-on-the-piano one.

Those who know me can probably guess which one I will go for ;) (yeah - the red one) nothing sedate or quiet for me!

Definately the red sparkly one :D :D

All done now - we can't wait for May!!

Wow, these look awesome so far - the doublet looks gorgeous. Can't wait to see them finished.

Oh wow! I wish I was going to have Fiona ready for Expo now. How did you do the fleur-de-lys on the doublet? As for the sequins, I'm assuming you used sequinned fabric? That must have been so difficult to work with!

KhaosKreator posted on 1 February, 2012 - 10:47
The doublet looks amazing! The stencilled fleur de lys look fantastically neat and high quality.

Epic! :D

CosplayMutha posted on 1 February, 2012 - 21:52
Thank you all, The fleur de lys were made from gold tricot foil fabric. I bought some sheets of DIY iron on hotfix stuff. It comes with a paper backing, so you iron on one side to the back of the fabric, I then cut out the shapes, take off the backing paper and iron it into place. Easy!! The red sequin fabric was horrible to sew, where the sequins were fixed to the backing, it left a little ball of glue on the needle shaft so it kept breaking the thread. Sue x

Thank you very much for the information. That's extremely useful. One final question though: what fabric did you use for the doublet? It looks like velvet.

CosplayMutha posted on 2 February, 2012 - 22:19
Hi, It is a velvet - the thicker sort about £8 per metre. The sleeves are a very fine wool type of fabric - I chose it because the stripe was very similar. It's all lined with some 'left-over' satin lining fabric. :)
