Medicine Seller - Mononoke

Made this for my friend Luke, cos he's thought the Medicine Seller was awesome ever since he first saw Mononoke (just like everyone!) and wanted to cosplay as him. He's only the second male Medicine Seller cosplayer I've seen, which is funny since the Medicine Seller is male and Luke's usually into crossplay!

The kimono was heavily modified from Simplicity pattern 4080. There was a lot of applique on the sleeves, which was completely improvised (full step-by-step guides are up on my cosplay LJ), and ended up requiring an astonishing 20m of white bias tape. The applique was all hand-stitched because it wouldn't go through my sewing machine. The obi was made using buckram, wool, satin and Bondaweb. The wig is a styled-up Angela wig from Cosworx.

The colourful bits of the makeup were Kryolan Aquacolor. The foundation was meant to be much paler so I'll be picking up some pale Aquacolor at a later date.

This was wonderful. I think Luke would wear it everyday if you let him :)
