Information

Because it's such a pretty dress.

I was recently gifted a beautiful red and gold Venetian masque, and I need a beautiful Italian renaissance dress to match it.

Christina was perfect ^.^

I hope you're aware of how perfect a Christina you make, because seriously *___* Are you still planning on making this? 8D

I really hope so! I have all the fabric now it's just finding time to put it together :( stupid final year of uni. She's #1 on my want-to-do list though!

Kitacon

I didn't know if I was going to be at Kitacon until the last minute so I had to rush things on this costume a bit...

...as a result the outer gold dress is missing the red lining and curved hem, she's also missing the red cap sleeves and a bit of ribbon detail on the split sleeves as well as the red and gold, jewelled belt which is mislaid somewhere in my house.

But I loved cosplaying her so much, and I met absolutely the best AC Brotherhood group! Who were too fabulous for words. So will definitely get her finished properly to re-wear and do some proper photoshoots with!

Progress on sleeves!!

Complicated sleeves are complicated. Spent a long time mentally visualising how these would work and drafting patterns and have finally got an end product for the split sleeves!

Just to attach the panels to a main sleeve for the upper arm and then move on to the lower arm detachable sleeve.

So complicated!

Lace trimmings!!!

Added a bit of lace to edge the camicia around the neckline and the sleeve cuffs.

Progress...

Starting work on the sottana (middle dress) hitting so many problems... no matter how much research I do on the best way to construct this something inevitably fails in the plan. So it's a bit touch and go at the moment but slowly coming together.

Making a start!

I LOVE historical costumes. I am just so much more into the entire creation process when it is based on genuine historical fashions... And my God is Christina fabulous.

An evening spent sewing together her underwear, that is the red camicia and red/gold underskirt. The fabric is gorgeous, silk peachskin for her camicia (which feels amazing on the skin) and shiny red/gold taffeta for her underskirt.

Pretty pleased with this evening's progress! I think I might look out some lace trim for the cuffs of the camicia sleeves.... they are just visible under the outer sleeves.

Other than that, bottom-most layer = complete! Onto the next!
