10th April 2012: Improvements Mark 1! I wanted to improve this costume before I wore it to Kitacon this weekend. Unfortunately I don't have the time or the resources to make his little sword and dagger (something I intend to make later on, for next wear)
However I have made lots of lovely little details to go onto the belt. Some little dragons and a little pretty to go on the end of the belt, I have also made a cover for the buckle to make it more accurate.
19th October 2011: Starting the coat I have now managed to sew together the majority of the coat.
I am using the same pattern as I did for the 1917 Russia cosplay I wore at the Grand Cosplay ball last year.
I have got the bodice and tails sewn together, and the lining for both parts also sewn together.
I just need to sort out the sleeves and the way the lapels are done, and the basic coat is done.
19th October 2011: Fabric GETS! Okay thanks muchly to the help of various cosplayers and also a scouring of Fabricland in Brighton I finally managed to score some fabrics for this costume last week.
I managed to get some Boiled wool for the main coat, tweed for the cloak and some linen for the trousers. SO MUCH BLACK!
I have also got some lovely red wine coloured leather (faux leather) for the sleeves, collar and emblem. I awaiting the veiling to arrive for the texture of the collar (and the emblem if I can work out how).
10th September 2011: Wig is bought! Okay so I now have the wig!
I have attached an image of the wig from the ebay auction so you can get an idea of what it looks like. I think it's perfect for his style of hair, and colour. Really pleased with it! Many thanks to Nocturnal-blossom for helping me find it! XD
5th September 2011: Beginning and planning! With expo only 2 months away, and me wanting to get this costume down absolutely as perfect as I can (I love this character and the house, and the whole series so much it has to be perfect!) Im getting started on this early.
Also as I forsee it being quite a costly outfit to make Im hoping by starting early I can spread out the cost of it!
First off is the wig! I have, with much help from Nocturnal-blossom, hopefully tracked down a wig I can use for Vizzy!
It's a bit long and will require a tiny bit of styling but not masses which is great as I always find overly styled wigs end up being a rock of hairspray and I want this costume to come out quite realistic. I have opted for a lace-front wig on this costume as Vizzy's forhead is quite prominent and so the hairline I need can only be gotten from a lace fronted wig, it also gives the wig a much more natural look which I like and adds to where I want to go with this costume.
Another potential problem we have encountered (myself and nocturnal-blossom, who will be cosplaying as my IC sister, Daenerys Targaryen!) is that they both have these beautiful dragon emblem broach pins, which unfortunately we have not been able to see for sale, and so we have to make them!
OH THE HORROR! we have never done anything like this before so it's a whole new void of wonder!
Though after searching around on cosplaytutorial.com I may have found some clay or casting solutions which look quite simple so I will be testing them out soonish I hope!
The only thing I now have to decide on is what type of fabric to use and also how the Targaryen house emblem, the three-headed dragon, is done on his tunic. I have a variety of ideas but Im going to sit and watch the series all over again to try and work it out. Oh such a shame *lesigh* I will have to watch all 10 episodes of season 1, I am 'GUTTED' lol. Also been watching a load of behind the scenes footage for close ups and full body scans of the outfit which have been really helpful.
