Edea Kramer (Sorceress) - Final Fantasy VIII

In Progress

I don't understand why Final Fantasy VIII is so underrated, it's one of the finest games in the series!

When first introduced, Edea is portrayed as a cruel, sadistic woman.

You meet her properly in Deling City, where Squall and his party are tasked with assassinating her. The attempt fails, and Edea responds with a vicious attack. You encounter her again later on, and upon defeating her in battle, you discover that she was in fact possessed by Ultimecia, a malevolent sorceress from the future.

Edea is actually a gentle, loving matron who cared for children at her orphanage.

I love this woman, she's elegant, mysterious and badass!

I agree with Fusion. There aren't enough people who give Edea the love she deserves. Good luck with this.

I'm so glad to see you're doing the full gradient on the dress! Many Edea cosplayers leave that detail out. Yours looks excellent and the dress has a great shape to it as well.

Ohhh gosh, wow! Thank you both so much! <3

Progress Journal

18th March 2014

Backpiece bits

I would actually pay someone to carve this right now.

This has got to be the most frustrating/boring part of this cosplay.

18th March 2014

I'm trying to remember to take photos throughout this time!

So the core is made from tightly compacted foil which I shaped into the horns, which I then mod rocced for rigidity, and then lightly coated in paperclay so that I can sand it smooth (applying Homestuck cosplay knowledge here).

The reason I did so rather than just molding some clay is because I need it to be as light as it can be, considering it's going to be on my head all weekend, but it also needs to be rigid and smooth.

17th March 2014

Basic helmet

Took a mold of my head using Kobracast (brilliant stuff, thank you Coscraft!).

I then did the same thing I did with the horns, applying mod roc and paperclay (though I haven't got round to the clay yet..)

9th December 2013

Take 72 or something?

If I don't finish this by Kita I'll fricking chew a wasp.

I didn't measure the spacing but as long as it looks alright by eye. Nobody's gonna get a protractor to it.

Okay so I work messy, but no more nails is the shit.
