12th March 2012: Bladed Lance Okay, so far I've cut out the base of the blades, painted them black; procured myself a pvc pipe and sawed it into 3; and started sculpting various parts of the lance. I've run out of sculpey though and I've got more materials coming my way soon so this is about as much as I can do for now.
17th July 2011: Boot update EXTREME BLUR. Aha, not much has been altered except the metal part around the top (I don't even know what it is...) this baffled me for a while (at expo it was just a silver piece of pleather) but I knew that it was meant to be reflective, metallic silver rectangles. I tried looking for some kind of ribbon that had those kind of rectangles on it, but I couldn't find anything. I settled on buying a few sheets of sticky-back metallic paper, which worked like a charm! I cut out pieces onto bits of pleather and then glued them onto the boots. Not the best job ever, but it's better than what I had before :)
19th June 2011: Sari V.2 Okay so after fiddling around with my sari for a bit I've made it fold SO MUCH BETTER. It's probably not a massive difference but for me it's hella more accurate than how it was at expo, everything is in the right place now :)
Please excuse my face for sheer derpitude. 8D
13th June 2011: Updates Well expo's over and although I enjoyed myself SO much I wasn't particularly happy with my costume...several things were really inaccurate and are bugging the crap out of me so I have to remake them.
+ Edit the sari, iron pleats again, figure out a better way to fold it
+ Make the metal parts of boots
+ Remake belt buckles
+ Make lance holder
+ Make the woven belt
+ MAKE HAIR GROW FASTER and put in more layers
+ Figure out a better way to do the l'cie brand
That's all for now...
17th May 2011: Extensions! Seeing as my hair isn't quite long enough yet (damn you, hair! D:) I've invested in some lovely extensions, which I've actually started wearing normally aha. Think they look pretty snappy!
12th May 2011: Sari progress I've managed to comandeer one of the sewing machines at school during my lunch break, so rather than hand sewing the sari like the rest, I'm doing this on the machine (oh god, could you imagine how long it would take?!) The bottom sections done, and i was just trying on the top section to see how well it folds and whatnot :)
Still got to add the gold ribbon to! Job for tomorrow :D
10th May 2011: Top Thought I would post a shot of the back aswell :) I'm not sure if I like it, it looks...off to me :/
I need to lose weight ASLKDGHA
8th May 2011: Booty wooty Oh god, ALL OF MY LIFE. This boot was a pain, and I still have another one to do! I love how it looks, and for my first try at making boot, not too shabby!
Let's see, I bought a pair of black sandals, but off the upper part and painted the sole the same brown at the leather. I measured the fabric around my leg to cut out the pieces, and hand stitched them together with all the other little pieces I made before hand (belt loops, etc) until it was done!
3rd May 2011: Boot progress So i've started to make some progress on the boots, sewing the belt loops and such. It's a painful task, but until my base shoes arrive this is what I need to prepare! :P
17th April 2011: Hair progress! Had a quick go at styling my hair - still not long enough, but not too shabby!
My hairdresser got me this "red mousse" product, which should take to the blonde highlights in my hair, giving me the lovely red tips that Fang has. Picking that up tomorrow, can't wait!
P.S please excuse my strawberry nails, lmao.
25th March 2011: Fabric + sari trim RIGHT, scrap that last journal about the fabric aha. At the very last minute I found a much better colour! Cheaper as well! :D
I'm much more pleased with this one, I can't wait for it to arrive so I can cut the pieces and sew the trim on <3
13th March 2011: I get my Fang make-up owwwnnn It's sunday, I bought some fake tan mousse that I'm thinking of using for Fang in May, and I'm sooo bored.
11th March 2011: Sari fabric After ordering 46291900 fabric samples for different shades of blue, this is the only one that seems most accurate. It's a lovely shade, I just hope it looks alright :)
3rd March 2011: Fur! My lovely fur arrived today <3 it's so lovely and soft, I'm so tempted to use it as a pillow...
I've made it into pelts and attached it to my pants just to get an idea of how they hang, but I still need to dye the ends a little bit lighter.
22nd February 2011: Jewellery bits! I had intended on actually buying an amethyst crystal, but after ages of searching on etsy/ebay etc trying to find a suitable match, I gave up and just decided to make some out of purple jewellery clay P:
These are all the bits for her jewellery, I've made everything out of clay (except the stuff in the bag), with a coat of nail varnish after baking to give it a nice sheen.
13th February 2011: Armband + body progress So, I made the little woven armband thing out of spare material I already had - win! I'm still wondering how I'm going to properly fasten it though (it's currently stuck together with selotape P:)
And also, I'm losing weight! Hooray! I'm trying to get slimmer and buff up for Fang, I've got a long way to go but I've got over 4 months. Already I can tell that Easter is gonna be a tough obstacle...
31st January 2011: It's like watching hair grow Well, this is mah hurr. And me trying to look Fangy.
I need it to grow a good 3 inches or so more for Fang, I'm not sure how fast hair grows so I don't know if I have unrealistic hair expectations considering expo is 5 months away? ;___;
Bah, if push comes to shove I guess I'll wear extensions or some shit.
23rd January 2011: SQUEENIX Y U DO DIS ...
Fucking cornrows ;___;
Those sneaky bastards at Square reeeally hate cosplayers, don't they?
16th January 2011: Pendant uno Made the...pendant(? I'm not really sure what it is...) today, using ivory jewellery clay and then a coat of clear nail varnish after I baked it to give it an extra bit of fabulous shine.
11th January 2011: Sari mock-up I'm super keen to get started on this, but before I do anything with the sari I wanna make sure I get the right measurements. The fabric I want is sehr expensive so I don't wanna buy a crap load and then discover I have too much/little.
I bought some calico the other day to measure out the pieces and practice folding, and I'm pretty pleased. Now to buy the silk!
