Zakuro (Waitress) - Tokyo Mew Mew

wore this to the Charity Cosplay Cafe. I love purple so Zakuro was an immediate yes. also i wanted to do something maid/waitress-like as i'm going to be a waitress at this cafe.

It's this kind of cosplay that makes me wish i neve bothered. it was too tight as i made it from non-stretchy fabric based on a stretchy t-shirt. it ripped down the sides because the sleeves were slightly too small and i could hardly move my arms.
i'm not going to bother trying to fix this. i'll just leave it.

this is what i get for rushing the night before.

never mind.
had fun though.

How it's made:
Alrighty so i'm going to put down how i made the apron.....

The Heart: First i took my white fabric and drew a heart shape out on it, at first it was too big but better that than too small, i decided which side of the heart i liked best and folded it and cut out along the lines of the preferred side so it'd be identical.
i then pinned it to another part of the folded fabric along the fold and cut around it so there'd be another identical heart.
them i sewed the 2 sides together leaving a 3 or 4 inch long gap un stitched. i then turned the heart inside out and stuffed it with wadding to make it puffy. i then stitched the gap shut. i decided that it was too big so all i did was stitch about 2 cms in from the original stitch line and then cut that bit off! easy!

Front: for the front of the apron, absolutely no maths went into it was all. it was all guess work. first, i drew out a rough shape onto the fabric, then like with the heart i decided which side i preferred, folded down the centre and cut it out. then i hemmed it all the way around.
for the shoulder frills i cut 2 long crescent moon shapes out of the same fabric and sewed them straight along the shoulder straps, as they're curved they waved nicely when put straight. i'll probably use another layer like this to make it puff up a bit more.
I still need to do 2 strips down the front.

Waistband: for the waist band all i did was cut a long strip of fabric, cut it to the right legth and hem it. then while it was pinned to fit around my waist i pinned the heart in the right place, i still need to attach the frills to it though.

I have no idea how i'm going to make the bow or put it all together so it can be put on and taken off in one go. i might have to experiment with that. ^^

How are you planning on making your skirt puffy? With my other dress it was floor length so finding an underskirt was easy, are you making your own or keeping it all poofy with epic mind powers? X3

poof the bloomers out with padding? I suppose that would make sense, you mean sew padding between two sheets of material or something? (you can tell I'm a total newb at sewing) yey frills
