Jin Race (Female) - Blade and Soul

London MCM Expo May 2010

Showcased 23rd April 2011 What is this?

Shopping list: (in progress)

-----------------------EDIT APRIL 06 2010-----------------------

I almost have the grey bodice finished, I made it by cutting a hole in the centre of the whole thing and slowly taking it in and stitching in the grooves, I did it that way with the Reith dress too (the shoes I killed myself over have fallen to bits T_T)

I've cut out the back petals and am in the process of lining the edges with bias binding.

I'm not bothering with a wig, as if this won't be uncomfortable enough already :3

I have various pieces of lace to make the flower embroidery, I aquired some bells from my mum who did morris dancing when she was a little younger;;

I have some grey leggings that I'll adapt to make the stockings, I seem to choose a lot of costumes with these stupid hold-ups, which NEVER hold up!

Now working on the grey jacket, not as hard as I'd expected XD

Should be done in time, will upload a pic tomorrow when the jacket is done :3

Edit May 13-------------------------------------------------------------------

At work right now, just bought silver and copper wire to trim the three arm/leg bands which you can see. Bought black suede cord for the top rather than white ribbon which was always temporary. Bought a small silver ring for the large bauble which you can see hanging from the top, yet to make the cage~~

Gotta keep going! :3 Its not really all that far to go now if I think about it;;

Plus I cut the shoes into the right shape, got to find a way to make them stay on better though, so sick of struggling with akward legwear <3

task of today; find the ideal bodysuit/ stocking... its not the most modest outfit and I'd rather have a little coverage :3 I'm not a total whore;;

Edit---------- 19th MAY

Been sticking brass thumb tacks into thick strips of reinforced leather for the past two days, and my thumbs are white, tenderized and numb T_T Its cheaper than a stud-gun though and looks just as effective I'd say :3

Made the little yellow hand-covers, you can't properly see them on the reference pics, but those are out of the way now, got the spiked bracelets and have started cutting up some leggings to make the suspenders, I'm happier with my progress how, should be done in time, the key part is to get all of the sewing out of the way! I can't use a sewing machine on the train XD

Also dyed the sash red which hangs down the back.

got just two more silver crosses to make until theyre done, to stop myself veing punctured worse than Pete Doherty's arm I'll have to cover the backs of the leather with foam/ card/ felt.

--------------------------Edit 24 May------------------------------------------

Progress progress :3

Sash is attatched and I've painted and embossed the bauble at the end of it.

Made little white studs to decorate the cross at the back and the yellow sash around the top of the tunic.

I've hemmed the leggings, and I'm told by a good source that Carpet tape is the best way to hold up/ down slippy garnments, so thats that demon slayed!

Backed the leather arm-bands with leather belts I've cut down and punched new holes into, I might put a bit of velcro down to hold it in place~ Just need to put belts on the smaller bands (lined with studs)

Painted the gold detail onto the um,.. back-flap? the little leather fan that is all that conceals my rear from the baying crowd XD

Eventually made the little cross-pendant (that is attatched to the ribbon tying on the jacket) from craft foam which I've reinforced and sprayed with yellow paint left over from Reith. I cut out some leather shapes to stick to the top of this (if you look closeley you can see they are featured on Kim's designs)

You want to know something! I now associate my costume with four things: Marie Antoinette, Ugly Betty, Lord of the Rings and "The Lion Man" tv show as thats all that seems to be playing when I'm sat making this thing XD
