Sakura (firey clothing) - Tsubasa Chronicle

me and my friend kitsunefox decided to do these costumes togther. i love sakura's hair beads

OK! the first progress pics are in!! i have finished making sakura's kimono and syaoran's is nearly done. i have lined sakura's with white satin and syaoran's with a wine coloured cotton. my friend has also started to make sakura's headdress but it is no where near finished yet. i still have to make the chinese style tops to wear underneath, and the belts to wear around the kimono's. but first things first, FIRE!!!! me and my friend went to hobby craft last week to look at our option for making the fire. we were going to do it in fabric paint but we realised that it was £3.50 for a tiny little pot and we were gonna need ALOT of paint. so we have decided to make it using more fabric. Its gonna take along time, but i think it will be worth it. ^_^

Syaoran's coat is finished and just like sakura's we just need to add the FIRE!! we have started to add it on to sakura's but its gonna take some time. Sakura's head dress is finished and i think that my friend did a great job. it looks just like the picture!!

now started to add the flames and it is gonna take ages! i am using crepe back satin which is really nice and shiny. i am sewing the bottom and side edges down and then using fabric glue to stick down the fiddly bits. Once the red flames are finished i can make a start on the orange flames. i also still need to finish the under top buy just adding the details and maybe changing the bottom of the sleeves so that they are wider. i also need to make the obi to go around the waist on my kimono. an then its done! YAY! id say that the whole costume is about 70% complete now.

was up till 2.20 am finishing my cosplay for the expo. *dies

Oh I can't wait to see this cosplay! The Tsubasa artwork is so pretty but very few people actually cosplay it! This one looks so nice, the sleeves and the dress and everything are amazing! Can't wait to see! :D

Hmm... I think there are some fabric paints that comes in a huge pot rather than tiny bottles... I remember using them when I was doing GCSE art back at school but forgot what the brand is... But perhaps it would be better to cut out flame shaped patterned fabric and stitch those on instead of painting it, since fabric paints always ended up making the fabric a bit stiff! In any case, good luck with whatever method you choose in the end~!!!

I am so in awe of this; it's such a complicated costume and I always thought the fire effect would be really hard to get right and you've mastered it. I saw you at Expo, it looks even better in person :)
