Alice Cullen (Book (Prom)) - Twilight

This costume is being made for a friend for In the Shadow of the Moon in Birmingham. It is based on an image from a catwalk show and the brief description in Stephanie Meyer's Twilight.

Finally after four weeks of making this costume in its various stages it was finally finished Saturday 19th Sept at 3am, just 7 hours before we had to set off to Birmingham for In the Shadow of the Moon.

The top of the dress was made by making three diamonds from crepe back satin and interfacing them all before hemming. The boob parts were made by using B cup bra cups which were later removed from the costume as the fabric would not fit right over them, the skirt was made from a pattern (will add number later) and altered to fit to the top. All parts of the top and skirt are connected using o-rings which were painted with nail varnish due to the wearer being allergic to most base metals.

Originally we had a different idea how to add straps but in the end we found it more suitable to thread the ribbon through the o-rings at various stages (see pictures) to keep the shape and make it a tighter fit.

Later a squared off triangle was added to the back and a zip added between the skirt and triangle to make the dress easier to get on. The split and hemming of the bottom of the skirt were the last things to finish off the costume.

The easiest part of the costume was making the skirt as I used a pattern, the hardest part was sizing the diamonds and various other pieces of the top without the person it was made for actually being here. She only arrived on Tuesday 15th September and we didn't do any work on the dress till the Thursday.

Thanks CrystalNeko. Wouldn't like to make a few changes to it. Like the back triangle I measured her for and it ended up alittle too big for some reason when we did the final dress fitting but it was 3am and didn't have time to alter it as it was finished the morning of the con and I still need to sleep and be up for about 8am.

Yeah Alice is epic. Got a few friends wanting me to commission some Alice cosplay stuff so currently on the hunt for fabrics and patterns for the blue Alice smock, Esme's birthday dress and my own Edward Cullen robe.
