Manabu Yuuki - The Galaxy Railways

This was the first ever costume I had attempted where you could see my face, normally every costume i've done has obscured my face. Wanted to wait until the CosplaySnap photos were up but i'm impatient!.

This was by far the most challenging of all the costumes I had attempted, I was looking for a new project and had just finished watching the amazing and very underrated Galaxy Railways. I'd been wanting to do this for a while and very kindly offered to join me on the project initially as Supreme Commander Layla Destiny Shula and then as Louis Fort Drake; Manabu's partner in crime.

After colour matching the material and sourcing similar parts the costumes themselves were very difficult to make as no exact pattern existed requiring extensive modification of existing patterns.

The tunic was the most difficult part by far to make, the trousers and roll neck top were quite difficult to source and then required dyeing. The boots were sourced from a military retailer in the US. I don't want to talk about the wig...

The fantastic belt buckles and Sirius platoon badges were made by a very talented friend of Alias's although they were prone to breaking which was quite annoying.

The excellent belts and holsters were made in the hotel room by Alias in the hotel room the night before using Leather, Super Glue and Vodka (Which we drank).

I think on the whole this is one of my favorite costumes but its construction was hampered by constant set backs and breakages. In the end it all came together and I'm quite happy with how it turned out. Couldn't have got it to look as good as it did without the help of Alias and Clone so a big thank you to them.

Costume will be remade in the near future. With better wig etc. Galaxy Railways needs more love!
