Personal Bio
I'm cut from a very different branch from a lot of people. I have an odd way of looking at things, but I wouldn't change myself for love or money.
Graduate of Publishing with Journalism with first degree honours, and currently looking for employment within a publishing company or in an administration position.
Cosplay Bio
I started cosplay in 2005, when my friend Redkun told me about Ayacon, and we both decided to go together as Sheena and Zelos. At that time I never so much as got to touch the sowing machine though, as my mother took over the entire procedure. I couldn't make my own cosplays Amecon the next year either, and her lack of interest more than showed in some of the cosplays where she was more willing to compromise on things I felt were really important to get right.
After Amecon, I snapped and made an investment. A sowing machine for my student flat, whose very first job was to make a Pronyma cosplay for Auchinawa. It was tiring, it was stressful, I had little-to-no-idea how to use my sowing machine, and I had one of the largest and fragile props to make on top of it. At the end of it all, the cosplay was never (and still isn't) fully finished, but it still managed to debut at Auchinawa in something resembling glory.
The next convention I went to was Amecon 2008, and since this time the cosplays were all up to me, I decided to do 2 that would require minimal sowing, and one to help practise my skills. Ellipsis from Saturnalia, Shadow Heartless from Kingdom Hearts, and Sunako from Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge - who had a skirt that I had to make from scratch.
2008 unfortunately, was the year of the dissertation, so Minamicon's new costume (C.C.) was commissioned, but I was back on track for Amecon when I was rejected for the JET Program, and tried to get two costumes done. My 'secret' one ran out of time, but Gwendolyn was on good track (though it wasn't finished until about 5 hours before it debuted ^_^)
On the waiting list for Auchinawa, but intend to be at the expo so see you then!

Stupid Rule No. 547
Sat, 11 Oct 2008 07:27:26 GMT
...and Morrisons goes and throws yet another stupid dumb nightshift rule on us poor working folk. I got a bollocking warning from the nightshift manager when he found my bottle of water on the shelf, and told me that no juice is allowed on the shop floor.
...Okay. Since WHEN? Given that his boys repeatedly use the fishmongers ice bar as a cooler for their irn bru I was trying to wrap my head around this logic. Apparently because of the amount of bottles being found half empty on the shop floor without receipts we can't do it anymore - even IF we have the receipts on hand.
This is so stupid - yes people get through 9 hour shifts without liquid in the day, but at night most of them NEED that sugar rush that fizzy liquids give them. I'm not too bad off since I've weaned myself from that addiction, but making us go upstairs to our lockers for our juice is a timeliness NIGHTMARE. This is right up there with the no music rule.
Oh, and to make things worse, some morons broke into the store during a nightshift last week. Snapped off the lock, went through the main warehouse and stole a couple boxes of booze from warehouse 2. So now, the security barrier (originally only used for when removing money or cigarettes) has to be down at all times save deliveries, so that if it happens again, people can't get into warehouse 2. However, this ALSO means that we can't put the used pallets and trays in their collection point, and have to get new trolleys and cages via a small fire exit - which has to be kept shut at all times and doesn't open from the inside, so if you don't tell people you're in there getting them, you could find yourself trapped in a very cold room with no way out. Not only is this irritating, it isn't even effective. Last I check they keep pallets in the main warehouse too - what's protecting them??? Can't they do the smart thing and get a security system that...oh I don't know...WORKS???
