At the moment I'm doing an apprenticeship at the Royal School of Needlework, which entails all sorts of needlework but mainly embroidery and conservation/restoration. I'm hoping this will lead me into professional costuming or possibly into designing/making wedding dresses, so you can see how cosplay comes into my life. I get to work at Hampton Court Palace which is pretty inspiring when I actually get a second to look out the window!
I've always loved costumes and could never wait for Halloween to come around for an excuse to dress up, so discovering cosplay a few years ago was great for me. What I love about cosplay is creating impossible outfits - even just thinking through how to make an outfit successfully is very satisfying so I'm usually not too disappointed when I run out of money (and on £40 a week that happens a lot!) I tend to end up making a lot of things for other people, and actually spend more time making clothes I can justify the money for, but I look forward to cosplaying more again in future.
