When I'm not accidentally setting things on fire, I spend most of my time trying to wrangle an MSc in Information Security at Glasgow Uni. Prior to this I did the best part of a year teaching Secondary Mathematics (before deciding that I wanted to be back at uni) and taking an undergraduate in Pure Maths and Computer Science. Throughout my university years, I met a bunch of amazing friends, some of which I still cosplay with today. o/
Because of recent piles of work and lack of money, I've not managed to work on much for the past couple of years, but that's on the verge of changing and I'm psyched to be back into costuming again.
Although I've been cosplaying for several years now, I would still consider myself a very novice cosplayer, my lack of skill improvement is probably somewhere between my own lack of creativity and my stubbornness to avoid patterns and 'professional' tools wherever possible, mostly due to naïvety. However, I'm slowly making progress.
Despite this, when I do have time/money available, I do like to delve into something a bit more challenging and very much enjoy making props for my costumes whenever I can think of something relevant.
Although the first convention costume I did was only back in 2006, I have made several related costumes for school events when I was much younger, including dressing as a female Pikachu when I was 12 (before I knew it was a 'thing') and making a very basic Sailor Moon costume using a pleated denim skirt, a white t-shirt and cut up fabric back in 1998 after I first saw the series (at age 10), fun times. :D
I have several costumes that I plan to do over the next few years and have uploaded some of them to planned - in case someone wants to pull together a group for something/some convention. I always have a lot more fun when I'm in a group with people.
