Japan Underground club night next month!

Next month will see the launch of new event in the form of club night Japan Underground, to be held on Wednesday 17th November 2010.

The event will run from 7pm - 2pm at The King Pin Suite, Bloomsbury, London and will be loosely based around the Capcom franchise Sengoku Basara, screening the anime as well as offering attendees a chance to play the video game. Japanese music will be played throughout the night, varying from J-Pop, J-Rock, gaming, anime, etc.

There will be live performances from bands "HITT" and "10". Karaoke machines will also be available for those who like to sing. Cosplay Portrait will also be there providing both Purikura style photos and professional shoots, with photos being printed there and then for you to take home.

Euro Cosplay news!

The final weekend of October (29th - 31st) sees massive MCM London Expo return, with the added addition of playing host to the Euro Cosplay Championships. Expo goers will be treated to a range of cosplay talent across Europe, with Cosplay Island users SephNoir and Fatkraken representing the UK.

A host of international guests will be judging at the event, as well as hosting panels.

Anime All-nighter line ups announced!

Often spend long nights watching random anime and wishing they would show it more in cinemas? Well the twice-yearly anime all-nighter, part of the Sci-Fi London Film Festival, has announced TWO anime all-nighters for next month, both held at the Apollo Cinema in Piccadilly Circus!

The fantastic anime all-nighters have been a staple of the festival for some years now and, with free drinks, ice-cream and a bag goodies included in price of seeing a great range of anime on the big screen for just £30, they have been unsurprisingly successful. Read on for the full line up.

MCM Expo masquerade registrations now open!

Registrations for one of the biggest events of the year - the MCM London Expo masquerade - opened yesterday (26th September).

The Expo masquerade is always a big event, and looks set to be even bigger on Halloween weekend with a better stage and the added excitement of the Euro Cosplay finals. As always there will be a dedicated cosplay with area, with a cosplay desk, workshops, panels and more. It is always one of the best places to chat with fellow cosplayers.

Win great prizes at Hyper Japan!

Next week sees the arrival of Hyper Japan London 2010. This is going to a be huge Japanese pop culture event running from Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd October. The event itself looks to have an impressive line up of activities including street fashion, voice actors, manga seminars, and anime screenings. There's also going to be an array of Japanese goods on sale including a chance to sample a whole variety of Japanese foods.

Now what's really going to matter to cosplayers is that there are going to be three cosplay competitions running over the course of the weekend. With the top prize being a holiday to Japan including 5 nights in a 4-star hotel so read on for more details.

Grand Cosplay Ball tickets now on sale!

Tickets for what is seen by many as the last big event of 2010, the Grand International Cosplay Ball (GICB), are now on sale priced £18.

The GICB is a formal event held at the The Clapham Grand in London, which was originally a Victorian Theatre. This makes it an ideal location for the event as it plays host to several stage performances as well presenting a night of ballroom dancing and partying. Read on for more details.
