There's a whole bunch of events running this February including Japan Underground club nights, SFX Weekender, Anime League's London Anime Con and MCM Midlands Expo. Read on below for full details of all these activities.
Japan Underground (2nd, 3rd, 4th & 9th February)
After the first event ran successfully last year, Japan Underground and will be held not only in London on the 2nd February, but also Birmingham on the 3rd, Brighton on the 4th and Nottingham on the 9th.
The events will be club nights dedicated to the music of Japan, along with karaoke, purikura photobooths and live music from techno-punk band Hibari. Music played on the nights will feature the likes of T.M Revolution, Mad Capsule Markets, Dir En Grey, Polysics and many similar bands. CDs, DVDs and other merchandise will be available at the events.
All the above will cost £6 and the best dressed at each show will win free entry to a future event, so be sure to don you best cosplay, visual kei, harajuku or whatever fashion takes your fancy!

SFX Weekender (3rd - 5th February)
The first weekend event of the month is the SFX weekender, held at Pontin's Camber Sands. The weekend promises a range of events, shows and celebrities such as Terry Pratchett, George Takei, Anthony Head and more. Anime will feature during the weekend in the form of screenings, but sci-fi will be focus point which may suit stalwarts of the MCM London Expo who attended it before anime became a much bigger part of the main event on the anime calendar. Those fans will be pleased to hear that the annual SFX Sci-Fi Awards ceremony will be held on the Friday night.
Last years SFX Weekender saw a host of cosplays throughout the weekend and many will be donning their finest creations for the 'Maskerade Ball', which will no doubt feature a combination of sci-fi, fantasy, anime and more.
The weekend may not feature much in the way of anime, but with screenings of Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, Serenity, Ultramarines and Doctor Who, as well as Pat Sharp DJing (yes - PAT SHARP!) this looks set to be a great event.
London Anime Con (5th - 6th February)
Formerly known as Animeleague Club London, London Anime Con offers everything a full three-day weekend convention does, but at the cut-price of £15. Cosplay events, workshops, dealers, artists, parties, guests, gaming, everything is here and crammed into two days at the Rocket Complex, Holloway Road, London.
Convention virgins may wish to check out this event and use it as a launching pad to bigger events such as Kitacon (http://www.kitacon.org) and Ayacon (http://www.ayacon.org.uk), both happening later this year (April and August respectively).

MCM Midlands Expo (19th February)
The little brother of the mammoth MCM London Expo is back at the Telford International Centre on 19th February.
Being a show which you don't have to register in advance for, this is a great opportunity to meet up with your event buddies which you may not have seen since the MCM London Expo back in October. It is also a great event for newcomers to make new friends, with many forum meet-ups and photo shoots happening throughout the day. Many of the merchandise dealers which frequent the London Expo will also be in attendance, selling items such as figures, DVDs, manga and t-shirts.
Cosplayers will be able to show their skills off by taking part in the masquerade, which you can register for in advance here (http://www.midlandsmcmexpo.com/show_features).
