Planning a getaway this for the upcoming May Day Bank Holiday weekend? Well if fancy something to suit your hobby then you've got a choice of the Asahi Anime Festival in Brighton or Sci-Fi London's Manga All-Nighter.

Read below for full details of these two great events for anime and cosplay fans.

Asahi Anime Festival, Brighton

The weekend-long festival is held in The Opticon, Bartholomew Square and will feature several events including a Gothic Lolita fashion show, live music and competitions. There will also be stalls selling food, drink and Japanese snacks and crafts. There will also be events for children, such as face painting and colouring competitions, which will no doubt make for a great family atmosphere.

Readers will be pleased to hear that there will be a cosplay competition on the Saturday, which will be one of the main highlights of the festival. You will also be pleased to hear that the whole event is free!

Sci-Fi London Manga All-Nighter

The twice annual Manga All-Nighter, part of the Sci-Fi- London Film Festival held at the Apollo Cinema in Piccadilly Circus, London. Beginning at midnight on the Saturday night (May 1st), the night will involve screenings of Redline, Musashi, Bleach: The Diamond Tast Rebellion and Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works.

For a cost of £30 you not only get to see the films, but also get free refreshments throughout the night and a goodie bag upon arrival. Although cosplay is thin on the ground at this event, it is a great night for anime fans to attend, with lots of banter between fans during the intervals. Being an all-nighter also makes it a cheap event, since there is no need for a hotel, plus you will have the Bank Holiday Monday to catch up on sleep before going back to work!
