One Year On - a personal thanks
Article by Kat B (Delusional) posted Saturday 26th July 2008
Most of you will not have any attachment to this date but for myself it is rather special. On this day last year, the first version of Cosplay Island was launched. At first I was worried that people wouldn't join and that people would just stick to the larger international sites. However a year down the line we've been joined by over 650 members and had nearly 7000 photos uploaded; I guess my worries were unfounded! I just wanted to take this opportunity to say a few 'thank you's.
When I first entertained the idea of bringing a cosplay community site back to the UK years ago it was really a pipe dream. However several years on, months of work from myself and Perrin (through which many bottles of Bacardi and vodka were consumed respectively) turned my university dissertation project into a workable site which we managed to launch on the 25th July 2007.
My first 'thank you' goes out to Perrin, as without him I can honestly say that Cosplay Island would not have happened. Well, it might have happened, but it definitely wouldn't have been half the site it is now (you so should have seen it before....) I never thought I'd say this, but, "To Perrin!"
To everyone on the Cosplay Island team - thank you all for your hard work and support for the site. This community can't be run by two people alone and we really appreciate everything you guys have done.
Last but not least, a huge great thank you to all our members, from the small number of members we had testing the site in Beta, to the people that joined in the last week - you make this site what it is. Thank you for your continued support in using the site, making this place a community and being our eyes and ears when something goes wrong ;) We hope that you guys continue to enjoy using the site and will like the new features we have coming.
So, here's to another year! (Think we can break the 1000 members mark?)
