If you are one of the many that attended the spiffing anime convention Amecon and the post con blues have hit, due to you being unable to party and cosplay amongst your brethren, then you can take some solace in being able to plan for upcoming cons. In the coming year there will be AyaCon 2011, KitaCon, Hyper Japan, London MCM Expo, Auchinawa, Cosplay Ball, AlCon and J-CulutreCon.

So read on for more details of all these great events.

AyaCon 2011

Registrations for next years big summer con AyaCon are already open and a cost of £45. Although the dates of August 19th - 21st 2011 are a long way off, it is good to be able to get payment out of the way should you want to. For those who have not attended AyaCon before, it has a similar attendance size of Amecon (1,200+) and will be a weekend full of panels, parties, stage performances and friendly people. Visit the website for further information - http://www.ayacon.org.uk

KitaCon

Also open for registrations is the newer convention Kitacon, which will be running for the third time on April 1st - 3rd 2011 and will also cost £45 to register. An average size con of 800 members which will be running in a new location, Kitacon has quickly proven successful with the community despite being relatively new, with many attendees saying it is great fun to party at. For more information visit the website - http://www.kitacon.org/home

Although being able to register for events far in advance is useful, you probably want to go to events a bit sooner then that and thankfully there are still many to come in 2010.

Hyper Japan

New event Hyper Japan, which covers a wide range of Japanese culture, will be held on October 1st - 3rd in London. Interestingly the official GAINAX store will be attending as dealer, so expect some of the latest and more unusual Evangelion merchandise to be available. Also Hyper Japan is offering pairs of cosplayers a trip of a lifetime to Tokyo! For more information go here - http://www.hyperjapan.co.uk

London MCM Expo

Later in October will see the huge MCM London Expo return, which will include expanded fan activities and also host the finals of Euro Cosplay - not to be missed! Cosplay Islanders Sephnoir and fatkraken will be representing the UK at the finals, so be sure to go along and cheer them on. For information on tickets and location, visit the Expo website here - http://www.londonexpo.com

Auchinawa

Then in November Scotland will see the return Auchinawa (19th - 21st November), which will be held in Edinburgh this time round. Unfortunately the member list is currently full but there is a waiting list, so sign up as there is always a chance you could make it - http://www.auchinawa.org.uk.

Grand International Cosplay Ball

At the end of the November (28th) the Grand International Cosplay Ball returns for the third year running, held in London. This event is a little different to most as the emphasis is on donning your very best cosplay glad rags and ballroom dancing, along with some partying. The added stage entertainment makes for a great night. Tickets will go on sale 23rd August, priced at £18 and can be purchased here - http://www.grandcosplayball.com/html/entry.html

So all that should help those post con blues? If not you could always try otaku juice - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=me1zYj3lCPI!

Alcon and J-CultureCon

If thats still not enough, remember that conventions Alcon and J-CultureCon (JCC) are both running in September, in Leicester and Derby respectively. Both will feature cosplay events, parties, and dealers and are both cheap, so suitable for those on a budget. Places are still available for Alcon and you can register here - http://www.alcon.org.uk/news.php. Information on JCC can be found here - http://www.j-culturecon.co.uk.

There are many more events to come in the anime calendar for both this year and 2011 so there is there much to look forward to!
