*Sorry* I need some advice...again! RE: karin DNA2
Hello all!

Feel really bad that I keep constantly asking questions about bits for this cosplay (and others). I think being a newbie I'm insecure about making bad choices and I was wondering if any of you could help!

I really need some shoes to work on for my Karin cosplay.

I've been weighing up different options. Considering skit boots but they're very expensive and I imagine difficult to work with.

So I considered high tops and then came across alot of high tops with a concealed wedge in them. I think something like that could be good as it would give me a bit of height and be abit more flattering.

I found these (sadly not available in my size) but was thinking something along these lines might be a good base. I can then make additional details using foam.

I also imagine these would be easy enough to spray as one needs to be purple...or am I being gloriously nieve here?

Any help (as always) greatly appreciated!

Lora x

If you just spray them you might get flaking through the day. If you are going to build-up with foam, could you make an entire foam boot-cover that you can wear over any comfortable shoe?

Or look for second-hand ski boots, because they really look like them!

its really tricky, even fairly knackered old ski boots on ebay seem pricey. i'm concerned though because i have to have one white and one purple boot. if spraying isn't going to work with flaking (which i reeeeeally don't want) maybe i ought to make the whole shoe cover thing!?!?!

something like these would be good but i would have a clue about covering all the red?

these might be an ok base? oooo i dunno. im getting more and more confused.

...ooo these look potentially good. i could buy a replacement liner for them, one purple liner, one white...and there's not tooo much to cover up.

i'm thinking this pair will be the best...if i can spray them? any advice would really be appreciated .wouldn't want to buy them and find i can't spray them!

kind regards,

I've tried painting shoes before and it all ways turns out horrible >< they flake and peel, so can't really help you. Only thing I could find in all purple is - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LADIES-SIZE-UK-3-8-36-41-PURPLE-WEDGE-HIGH-TOP-HEEL-SNEAKERS-ANKLE-SHOES-BOOTS-/380585372462?pt=UK_Women_s_Shoes&var=650082717993&hash=item589ca7eb2e

but apart from that I would recommend making some shoe covers, or getting someone to make them for ya ^^; sorry for the lack of help!

its so difficult because i need one white and one purple shoe. and with ski boots being solid plastic that some hard core spray paint white hold out? because there isn't going to be any real 'bend' in the shoe, just the internal liner?

I have no idea sorry =/ best bet would be to commission the shoes/make shoe covers or buy 2 pairs of shoes in both colours. Ooooor do a test on a piece of similar plastic and see if you're happy with the result.
