Wearing/aging fabric.
Hello campers I hope you're all well and sewing away happily.

I was wondering, however, if anyone had any advice for wearing/fading fabric.

I'm doing Vanellope in October and have the hoody, but I'm trying to make it look worn. Without wearing it every day to achieve the effect, what's the best way to achieve the slightly faded colour effect? I've read everything from hot washes (which will probably shrink it) to leaving outside in the sun (what sun?!). Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks all

I can't help you with the colour, but sandpapering common points of wear, like elbows, is a good weathering technique.

I've been having a difficult issue with distressing my velvet for a cosplay. However, I found chalk works wonders if you grind it into the fabric with disrupting colour. I imagine if you're trying to darken it in places, charcoal will be your friend :3

Put it on a fast spin, as that will mess with the fabric.
