First time cosplayer needs help for PAX East! (Gaming!)
Hey, first-time cosplayer here looking to make a costume before PAX East (March 22nd). I know, I know, I'm running out of time, but I just moved and things have been hectic. But I need help! Having never done this before as well as not really knowing many people personally that have, I come to this forum to ask for advice.

I am planning on going as a Phanto from Super Mario Bros. 2. The cosplay has been done before, but the Phanto is kind of my MO for a few years now and I haven't seen it done super well.

I'm going for this, kind-of.

I want a mask, a suit, a key and a tie, etc. I'm planning on wearing a black morphmask underneath whatever mask I make with holes cut in it for the eyes and mouth so that I can still see out and have the ability to breathe, while covering my un-fitting hair.

I'm planning on getting a white suit to wear with it (rather than black) with a red tie and red and white gloves.

The things I need help with are the following:
-The Mask
-The Key
-How to paint gloves?

For the mask, I want to have a mask, paint it red and white (already have spraypaint) and cut eye/mouth holes in it to see/breathe through with the morphsuit mask. What should I use to make the mask? I'm not going for the pixelated look unless I have to because I can't make it work otherwise, so the key and mask can both be pretty realistically shaped if I have the ability to.

I'm thinking about buying this, painting it red and white and then cutting the holes out of it. Some reviewers have said they got it out of shape-some haven't. It would still be round and easy to work with, and I'm kind of worried this look might make it unrecognizable. Maybe not making it pixelated will make it too vague. What do you think?

For the key... I don't really have many ideas. Styrofoam? Cardboard? I've never really made a prop before so I don't know where to start. I'd like it to be somewhat large in size, probably around two feet, but I don't know what to make it out of. I have the spraypaint, again, to paint this with when I get it shaped out.

And for gloves... I'd like to have one red and one white one with the ability to use them both pretty well... Can they be painted? Are there ones that could more easily be painted?

Any and all advice and suggestions are appreciated! I really need this help!
