So I'm debating on going to Birmingham expo, and I'm also debating about doing a Garry cosplay for it
problem is, I have nowhere near enough skill to make the coat by hand, and I don't have the money to commission one/buy one online
so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on coats I could at least mod for the tattered look that he has:

You could just buy a navy blue coat (a normal outside one or a long cardigan) at goes down to about your knees and cut it in a tattered way? Or just wash it and hope it frays?

I'm debating the first idea, but I'm just having trouble deciding what kind, as in the material : o
