your views on a potential jacket
morning all!

sorry to be a bother but as part of my kusanagi cosplay i've been searching for months for an orangey leather jacket.

i found this on ebay...they do various sizes in mens and womens. quite expensive but i think with some work it could look really good. better than anything i could make!

what do you think?

Gotta admit, looks like the one.

You can make it look more cybery by making the shoulders and collar stiffer and smoother.

yeah i agree it needs the work! but i think its a real possibility. sadly its blummin expensive but i know i couldn't make anything as good.

if you look on my costumes page, i've uploaded a photo of someone who's cosplayed kusanagi from the film...after months of searching i've finally found someone who's actually done it... looks really good!

also, i'm thinking if i buy this jacket...do i buy a size too big or not? im feeling like it ought to be a little big/baggy but perhaps the style of it would naturally give it a baggy shape in which case i'd want the right size?

questions questions...

That jacket is pretty close to Motoko's if you ask me.

I just had a glance at it on ebay, and yeah... its pretty expensive, but honestly its pretty close as it is, so it wouldent matter soo much if your don't do anything to it!

I would go for the next size up because Motoko's is fairly baggy BUT the Jacket itself is actually a mens jacket so it might already have a baggy style...

It might be worth asking the seller how baggy it would be on someone of your size and shape?

Buuut its your call, I think its a good jacket and will work well whether you choose the next size up or not

Thanks for having a look at it for me! i'll definately contact the seller about sizing, they have a womans one but only have small, xxl and xxxl...which are definately no good!

will have a little think about it, i always fear the real chance that i'll go into a charity shop a week after buying it and see something perfect for 10 quid. but hey. i guess i've gotta take the risk!

thinking i might use leather dye on it to make it more orange, but obviously i'd wait til it arrived to decide!

No probs ^^

Yeah contacting them would be your safest bet ;]

And I know exactly what you mean about charity shops, so it might be worth dedicating a day to scouring all of your local charity shops just in case xD
Also, its also worth describing the Jacket you want to the shopkeepers as they have a whole load of stuff out back so they might just have what your looking for

Good luck!

yeah, might have to have a shopping day. i lived and studied in manchester and there are so many charity/'vintage' clothing shops around there. particularly thinking of a place called 'ryans vintage' which might be a possibility. can't see the ebay jacket selling really quick so i may have a day in manchester on saturday just to put my mind at ease before potentially blowing a lot of moolah! x

GAH! there are 3 even better jackets on ebay at the moment. one being a size 8, 2 are a size 10.

fuck me for being fat.

what do we think to this? would need cleaning. and i'd like to use some leather dye on it to make it more orange x

I like it, although not as accurate as the first one you listed, its still pretty close and its cheaper! (Which is always nice ;])

This may be a silly question, since I know nothing about the series, but does it need to be leather? The image you've posted doesn't scream leather to me, and going for a fabric jacket would be cheaper and possibly easier to find a good match.

i know! not as accurate, but with it being alot cheaper i'd feel less guilty for altering it...i finish work for half term on friday so i'll be having a couple of days in manchester searching for one x

it absolutely doesn't need to be leather, but i find the best results i find for jackets that match in style tend to be made in leather! i try all sorts of searches and when i get the cut/style right its just generally in leather

found a near perfect one that wasn't leather the other day but it was sadly a size 8 which there's no way i'd get into x
