At first I was fuming about the timetable.
The fact the Masquerade is on the sunday, completely cocked up my cosplay schedule - every con I've been to since 2008 has had the Masquerade on the Saturday - wtf?!

There's apparently only 20 slots for the Masquerade, so it's going to be the quickest masquerade ever lol!
Also the pre-judging being sunday morning after the rave - that's just a recipe for disaster for me XD lol

As for events, its a little bleak.
I think they were relying on fan events to happen and there's very few happening. The guests I'm not really fussed about as I only know TomSka.
As a social con, its going to be awesome as so many people I know are going.

Just reading through the comments and seen this....thought you might like to hear my little rant xD

I went on the forums and asked on the masquerade thread whether it is a cosplay competition or masquerade because they were being unclear. I also asked why they only have 20 places considering 700 people are going. They got a little rude saying that its a cosplay competition not really a masquerade and they can't have both because they are a new con (even though I have seen cons that have both) they also mentioned that not everyone can watch it because the room is to small and this worries me because the masquerade is always in the main room with the parties. So does that mean not everyone can enjoy the parties? I'm just freaking out because I'm worried that so many people won't get to enjoy the con to the fullest and some people who are new too cons might not want to go to one again.

Well the seating capacity is usually smaller than the standing capacity and for the parties - you don't usually sit down. So it should be big enough to fit everyone for the evening parties. Otherwise something is seriously wrong with the organisation and shit's going down...

The hotel itself has a limit to the number of people any way, so I'm hoping Gemu were sensible enough to book out the rooms large enough for the capacity. Besides, not everyone watches the masquerade any way - I know I don't usually because the queuing time is too long for me haha!

Just found out that the hotel limit itself is 400-450 people....

wow.
Well Gemu started out at a 500-600 person capacity and then went up to 700! I really don't think the organisers have thought about the size of the complex.
I mean if the hotel truly is 400-500 capacity, its going to be a squeeze.
From the sounds of things, the event is spread over various floors, games room and ops being on the 10th floor D8

I was worried about the capacity as soon as they started to include more spaces :S Feels that they are biting more off than they can chew >< 500 to 700 is a very big jump for a first time con.

Not everyone goes to the parties or the masq but Im very curious over exactly what the room sizes are like. I was right outside the hotel a few days ago and just thought '...oh my'.

Im feeling agoraphobic just thinking about it.

Maybe it's a game to get to each bit of the con throughout the building, and there in time before anyone else.

If I can't get into the parties, I'm going out on the town. I've organised the Pre-Con, a night out would be a piece of piss. Private area and discount drinks? Done.

28 Mar 2013 - 21:05100027
The whole "how are we all going to fit" is a discussion me and my friends have been having since we realized the hotel itself only has 166 rooms in all, which means we have the whole place to ourselves as they were all booked out by gemu, but even then with only that capacity, it really can't be all that big!
Looks like I'm going to have to camp out the front of the panels I want to see .-.;

As for events being up on the 10th floor - sounds like a challenge to break the lifts as much as we can (as if they didn't break enough through general con use!)

If we can't get into the parties, I will be pissed as so far that's all that seems worth going for - besides seeing people...

The precon party sounds hella dope B]
Me and my mates are all going to that after some serious warhamz lol XD

Even for a first time con, I'm getting really concerned about the organisation. Or lack thereof as it's starting to look :/

Does anyone know if there are any videographers going? I've been watching a lot of cosplay videos recently and it's got me excited.

It bloody will be!

I expect gratitude!.. But not free drinks, maybe a pat on the shoulder or a little nod, or a glance my way.. eeeee... *slinks into shy corner*

I don't want to be the Devil's Advocate in this case, all I'm doing is taking the neutral ground. We all paid to go there so let's reserve judgements till the Convention. If it's poop in a hat you can be damn well sure I'll give it an honest review, and if it's good we all have a great time.

I find that the people who go to a con make the con and I'll endevour to think of my fellow conventioners and assist you in having a good time, be this by being my usual jolly yet sarcastic douchey self or giving everyone a liberal coating of alcohol/glowsticks/UV reactive props. If we all did this, it wouldn't matter if the event was held in a shoebox in Luton, we paid for it already so lets have some fun ;D

So I'm quite an oblivious person, but how did you know this!? Was this said somewhere in the forums or something? I'm fairly bad at keeping track of info that's only been said on forums...

I'm /kinda/ looking forward to this con the closer it gets - I mainly want to see how it will all pan out! Although the usual "There's just a week left and I haven't started a single costume" panic has occurred, oops.
I have backups so technically I just have one new costume to make and one that I took apart the other day and need to reassemble - what kind of idiot would unpick a whole costume a fortnight before a con!? Oh wait me...

It was mentioned here in the email newsletter from the Chairman about registration:
"If, for whatever reason, you will not be able to make this, than you can pick your conbadge up from Ops, which will be on the 10th Floor along with our video game rooms and dealers."

Ahhhhh, this shows how much I pay attention to the emails, thanks for that

Don't get me wrong, I'm mega excited for this still!
I'm just not a huge fan of crowds haha

I'm quite concerned about how well everyone is going to fit in the con, but I'm sure they'll find a way! If even one event runs to time, it's be the most organised con I've ever attended haha!

It'll be fun either way really

That's really annoying. Even if I wasn't going for them in particular, there seems to be enough potential disasters already. And I really hope it's half decent considering I really don't drink alcohol all too much XD
