Papier mache help?
Or Paper maché, however you spell it.

Anyhow! I'm make a sword. First time. Whoo. Wanna get it done fairly soon, so I'm not freaking about it in a few months time.

I pretty much know how I'm gonna make it, but I'm having trouble with the paper maché recipe.

I've looking on 'Tinernet for one, and all the ones I've found just condtradict each other! =__=

So, Regular paper maché uses, whats the recipe you use when you make it?

Thankies for helps~! <3

paper mache i just use PVA glue and news paper... you can sometimes water down the PVA too. but i don't add the water so that it drys and hardens better

I've also heard from Laura that she adds in wall paper paste its strengthens more

Oh yeah All purpose and wood glue is just as good haha

hope it helps and good luck! looking forward it seeing progress

Yeah, don't bother mixing it with water. I also use the Wallpaper Paste method as it really strengthens it!

The wood glue thing you said Ive found works to, it really hardened the handle of my gunblade, its all about the right mixture.

I use 3 parts pva and 1 part water. I add the water just to make it a little more pliable and easier to work with. But using wall paper paste (follow the instructions on the packet) will work nicely too!

I just mix in water and PVA until it looks right. XD That always worked fine for me: it's cheaper because you're not using as much PVA, and it still dries fine. Even before I started varnishing my masks, my Hiyori one survived the rains over Japanex (wouldn't advise that though. Always varnish).

^^ Thanks to everyone for your suggestions and help!
I'm going to do it by trial and error and see how different attempts turn out. ^___^

Thanks again!
