How to make a cosplay modular?
If there's anyone here who could help me to figure this out, I'd be extremely grateful.
I'm building a costume for next May - it's a, um, I'm not really sure how to describe it. It's kind of like a giant suit with extended limbs and head. I'd rather not reveal the name on a public forum, but I guess it's kind of a zentai suit or a fur suit without the fur.
Anyway, the point is that I don't own a car large enough to transport it once it's built. And there's no way in heck it's ever going to fit onto public transport with me wearing it. So the only solution that's revealing itself right now would be to disassemble it into it's limbs and features, and bring them one piece at a time to whichever convention I wear it at.
So the part I need help with if figuring out if there's any kind of established method used to interlock suits of that nature i.e. a way to put on, say, chest piece first, followed by torso, then thighs, knees, calves, then head finished by arms I guess and then lock it all together once I'm inside.
This probably isn't making much sense from the way I'm describing it, but if you can deduce what it is I need, then I'd be grateful for whatever input you can provide.
Thanks in advance.

It's quite difficult not knowing what it is or what it looks like but for transportation you'll want each piece to go inside another piece, like lower arms inside upper arms inside torso. If it's a fur suit but not fur, i'm assuming it's still going to be covered in some kind of material or foam etc. You could have each section either velcro to the upper section or use snap buckles leaving a bit of material that overlaps onto the next piece down so as to cover any seam as best as possible. I believe this is how Iron Man cosplayers get all their pieces to link together.

I'm afraid that won't work.
The hands and feet are exponentially bigger than the limbs, so I doubt they'd be able be able to fit inside the other parts.
I was thinking something along the lines of giving a piece to a person I know and having each of them bring it to the convention where I could then assemble it.
The tricky part is figuring out how to clasp all the pieces together.

Okay, so I had a friend over last night and we started chatting about my cosplay. He gave me an idea that I think just might solve the problem.
You know how in certain glass coffee/tea/sugar pots you have that little piece of wire that runs around the inside rim, and on the front there's a little loop that you can place in front of another and then press it down so it clips into place and seal the container?
I'm thinking that just might do the trick since there'll be chicken wire involved.
Does anyone know what that mechanism is called?
