Fursuit Wing Help?
Hello there I will be making this ready for May

I will be making the main part out of fur but I have no idea how to make the wings look... defined and beautiful like a Phoenix should. I had an Idea on getting some Ostrich feathers just to give it some definition but im worried it would look alittle silly and that the feathers cost alot for so few. Is there any ideas floating about? Thanks

The only suggestion i got is use a longer fur for the wings with a shorter pile for the rest of the suit, might not be what you want but it's a suggestion c:

Could you maybe make fake wings out something like packing foam cut into feather shapes?

I've never done it before but it might work

For my recent costume that's a big bird, I've used felt feathers, it's still not the cheapest, but is cheaper then ostrich feathers. Plus it doesn't frey and is quite light, once painted they can look pretty cool as feathers too =3

if you do want to use feathers try to buy in bulk on ebay and get a few different lengths

Cut the feather shapes out of a short pile fabric, applique the shapes together so the pile is in opposite directions, when the light hits it there will be definition in the shapes and the applique will add individual definition.

I think, for example, something velvety would be useful, but a short pile fur may also be useful for this method.
