Got done with a Lulu FFX photoshoot this weekend.
My friend was nice enough to take some photos of my costume. Put about 8 + months of work into the costume and was extremely excited to wear it. Feel free to let me know what you guys think of it. I'll be wearing it to a couple cons next year and it's going to be fun i'm sure lol. I know everyone approaches lulu differently and kinda added my own touches in places...mainly because i had no luck in finding the materials. I bought the jewelry and the wig since it wouldve cost me more to make than to purchase. I can always make a crack at it later on. I need to save money up for the cons tho lol.

Do you want critique? It's best to attach a couple of images to here (right click on the image and hit "copy URL" then hit the picture frame on the comment bit ;p) so people can have a look-see easily. You can also add a reference, which is good for peeps who don't know the character or can't really recall what they look like.

Anyway.

Good job, imo. She's not got the easiest costume to construct so you did really well.

Critically, the sleeves need more volume to them. Lulu's swamp her arms and hands, whilst yours are too normal sized. They don't need to be as big as hers (that's rather impractical) but they could have been more exaggerated.

Other thing is that you probably want to make it that much shorter on the length of the dress. Particularly at the front. Just so it's slightly off the ground. It's proximity to the ground is just messing up the belt layout and pushing it out slightly.

Another thing for me, is some colour choices. The edging is way too bright. Even more so because of how dark the rest is. Also, the corset detail is also too bright and bold - a gray stitching would be good, or painting it on. The strips on it is just a bit blocky. Also, a lighter material for the skirt and sleeves (a charcoal grey) would be better to contrast with the corset (also, it's the same colour you want for the corset details ;p).

Minor knit-picking: You've got too many brown belts in your belt skirt and long (faux) fur would have been better.

But yeah, those are actually really minor things in reality! She's not easy, as I said, so you did an excellent job. You should be proud of yourself ;p And you look blooming beautiful in it too! Really wow!

Thanks and sorry about that...kinda rushed on posting.
I must say ty for giving a legitimate critique and not raging on me like i've had on some sites when i made some of the first pieces. I did take a little artistic license on this since it's only my second cosplay to tackle and i'm glad it doesnt all out ruin the piece.
I'll kinda explain why some of the things look the way they do so please do forgive me if i sound defensive in any way
As far as the sleeves go: Yea i know they could be a tad larger, again something i can fix down the road np!

Edging: I originally wanted to do more pastel colors since her edging is actually more pastel-ish, and i unfortunately ended up with brighter colors :/ I absolutely refused lace. Dear sweet jesus. I saw so many pictures of lace. I was determined to get the detailing down. I made stencils of the details and hand drew/painted it all out. I've been kinda debating if i could maybe just go over it all with a white wash to dull the colors.

The color of the dress skirt thing: I could find no gray/charcoal gray in a fabric i was happy with. I was so darn mad..I spent days searching and it irritated me to no end. I unfortunately live in an area where my fabric stores are quite lame and ordering fabric online scares the crap out of me. lol. I used Microsuede (The back of it, it actually doesnt wrinkle at all which worked wonderfully). It is actually a piece i'd like to redo eventually but i kinda had to work with what my fabric stores had :/

Corset detailing is Gray. I'm not sure why it looks white..we had flash go off on some pictures since the sun was going down. Maybe that's why. I have steel boning in the corset and it was my first time making one actually ^^; I drafted the pattern from another girl on cosplay.com who had a tutorial up so i'll probably change a few things if i plan on redoing it.

I know some things came out a little different than i planned but it's always something i can go back to and really push myself. Thanks again for the compliment and for your critique! I do apologize for not explaining everything properly in my first post. I hope i didnt come off as too defensive or anything and i really do agree that it's really hard to do. I'm pretty picky when it comes to cosplay stuff and this is only my second one i've made for myself. I felt like i had to let the picky factor slide too much in regards to colors of fabric and it's been bugging me. I'll fix alot of that stuff down the road.
