thanks everyone!
i've really thought about everything you've all been saying and as much as i'd love to, i'll be waiting til my next event to cosplay.
i think i'd feel alot better if i had a more complete/better fitting outfit to wear. nothing is quite right yet, and i think that i'd be very aware of that on the day, on top of worrying about my weight. i'd probably have a crappy day.
so i'll definately have a daft birthday balloon or badge and i'll hopefully be able to spot some of you to say hello!

Quote loramarsden: I think your conclusion is wrong.. people more like just cant see why you would be worried about cosplaying.. because cosplay is open to everyone. So yeah, just come along and have fun cosplaying your character of choice. If you come to the Expo without your costume, trust me you will end up feeling like you are on the outside of a great party looking in.. cuz so many people cosplay at Expo it actually feels quite odd to be there in normal clothes. So get your courage up, put your costume on and stand in front of the mirror then tell yourself you can do this. Then prepare to have an amazing experience of cosplaying at Expo. Quote loramarsden:
got my tickets at the weekend. managed to sway the boyfriend to drive us seeing as its on my birthday. worried though because i don't think i'd be able to have anything ready in time.... to be honest i've never cosplayed properly and i'm worried im too 'big' to do it? are people fairly kind? i imagine they would be but i just worry. as nobody has answered yet im presuming its not a good idea for me. so i'll be going as plain old me this time i guess i've taken on board too much of the negative stuff i've read online from people slagging off bigger girls for cosplaying! it seems everyone here is alot nicer/supportive. i used to be a size 22 and i've lost over 4 stone so far. got another 2-3 stone i'd like to lose though. still a 12/14 top and 16 bottom. generally a 14 dress size...which is ok but a long way from where i'd be comfortable. i used to be a real skinny minny until i was about 17/18 but depression and overeating meant i just lot all control of my weight. guess i've just got to look at it as i'm trying to get my life back and hopefully when i'm at a more desirable weight, cosplay will be a real way of celebrating that. i can't wait for the day i could proudly have that moment in the mirror but i think i'm a little way off yet. would be lovely to meet some of you guys though, i think it would help me to feel abit better. thankyou for your encouraging words You're the same size as me. Just putting that out there. Well done for how much weight you've lose though, it's really impressive! |

It would save on cash if I went to the local event instead. I'm not 100% decided. Thankfully, with Telford not being that far from me I can pretty much decide last minute. |

You need to not focus on those comments. Do what your really want to do, and don't let anything stop you. This event is pretty easy going. People don't judge on the size of a person. Those who judge online are probably self conscious and would never brave having a go at it. So keep up the courage and do what you love. There are many people who you can make friends with and they will support you all the way __________________ Love With Your Heart And Soul |

Really all comes down to budget and trying to book everything in time. I shall be at LFCC if you happen to fancy popping by. But sadly, its looking like Midlands is a no go for me I'm afraid. |

By comparison, the London one can be quite overwhelming! I'm doing the masquerade for the first time tomorrow so I'll be a bit nervy too! |

Because lets face it are mortal lives are very short and u know u could get hit by a bus tomorrow ......so lifes to short to worry about what others think.
