got my tickets at the weekend. managed to sway the boyfriend to drive us seeing as its on my birthday.

worried though because i don't think i'd be able to have anything ready in time....

to be honest i've never cosplayed properly and i'm worried im too 'big' to do it?

Cosplay is for fun, regardless of what size you are. If you like a character and you'd be comfortable wearing the outfit; go for it. People's opinions shouldn't get in the way of fun ^^

Don't spose you'll be going as that at Bristol Expo or Manchester MCM? I'm cosplaying Misty and it would make for entertaining pictures haha.

I dont have any plans to go Bristol Expo but Manchester MCM is a high possibility!

I think your conclusion is wrong.. people more like just cant see why you would be worried about cosplaying.. because cosplay is open to everyone. So yeah, just come along and have fun cosplaying your character of choice. If you come to the Expo without your costume, trust me you will end up feeling like you are on the outside of a great party looking in.. cuz so many people cosplay at Expo it actually feels quite odd to be there in normal clothes. So get your courage up, put your costume on and stand in front of the mirror then tell yourself you can do this. Then prepare to have an amazing experience of cosplaying at Expo.

Truer words were never spoken! First time I went to Midlands, I didn't have any time at all to put something together. I had fun and joined in, but it didn't feel right until I at least had a bunny hat on my head X3 The next year I went, I cosplayed for the first time and it was beyond amazing!

So I'm saying what everyone else is. Cosplay if you have the chance to get something together and have a really great time doing it ^__^

thanks, just been worried. still think i'll maybe just stick as being plain old me this time, not sure if i'm confident enough yet! plus nothing i've got would be finished to a standard im happy with yet

its my first proper event so i'll just enjoy taking in the day and meeting people

well, i'll have to have a balloon with me too, or a ridiculous novelty badge.

think i'll just go in my regular clothes this time...need to get stuff to a better standard and i'd also like to lose some more weight before 'going public'.

i guess i've taken on board too much of the negative stuff i've read online from people slagging off bigger girls for cosplaying! it seems everyone here is alot nicer/supportive. i used to be a size 22 and i've lost over 4 stone so far. got another 2-3 stone i'd like to lose though. still a 12/14 top and 16 bottom. generally a 14 dress size...which is ok but a long way from where i'd be comfortable. i used to be a real skinny minny until i was about 17/18 but depression and overeating meant i just lot all control of my weight.
guess i've just got to look at it as i'm trying to get my life back and hopefully when i'm at a more desirable weight, cosplay will be a real way of celebrating that.

i can't wait for the day i could proudly have that moment in the mirror but i think i'm a little way off yet.

would be lovely to meet some of you guys though, i think it would help me to feel abit better.
