Hey all

So, I'm starting on the mission of creating a suitably amazing (I hope) Jareth costume for next May's MCM...

And along the way, I'm more than likely going to need some help lol, but either way, I thought I'd create this thread and keep it updated with my progress on creating this movie costume.

So far I've mainly been sourcing out items to start with, but here's what i've got so far...

This will be first dyed a dark royal blue, before I work on the gemstones and decoration around the shoulder and arms... then a neck brace area will be created around the top of the collar, and blended with the material on the back, with the same gemstones and sequined decoration...

Which will have blue streaks and a small amount of glitter through it.

And the crowning glory so far... the Jareth pendant, which I amazingly snapped up on Ebay

So those are the bits I have on order now, awaiting delivery so I can start the project...

I still have some bits to research, the makeup and contact lense for the left eye being the major parts to research next. Along with some black swordsman style gloves, and black riding boots with about an inch heel on them... both of which I'll be looking into over the next few weeks.

ok, looking for some suggestions here... focusing on the pants / leggings specifically...

here's the reference...



It's not really clear what sort of trousers he's wearing there, but given the past scenes and his wardrobe in the movie, it's a safe bet they're leggings of some description...

So far i'm thinking a dark black velvet / velour style set of leggings... does anyone else have any suggestions for this?

update of Jareth's jacket...







Front done now, started work on the collar and back... having to take a break though as the sun came through the window unexpectedly and nearly blinded me from the reflections off the gems lol

yeah, had the pendant custom made... came out absolutely gorgeous

i wanted to ask how youre planning on doing the make up btw? i've noticed in your photo your eyes look quite dark, when in fact i'd be putting a lot of white/highlights at the top and exadurating the brow line. there's a girl on youtube (whos name escapes me and sadly i can't access it at work) and she does amazing make-up tutorials, used her tutorial for a dr.frank n furter costume a while ago. i'm almost CERTAIN she does a jareth tutorial! xxx

oh and also, on the extras of labyrinth dvd bowie is interviewed in normal dress but he's left his jareth make-up on, if you can find it gives you a good idea of the make-up without the distraction of the wig/other elements of the costume x

i've actually got a friend who does makeup professionally, she's going to be at MCM anyway, so i bribed her with the promise of a few drinks on the evening, and money to replace anything in her kit, in exchange for doing my makeup in the mornings lol

i tried myself, i really did, but i'm utterly useless at makeup it seems lol

no, not at all... the picture of me above is without any makeup at all, so having someone to help me out on the days is a definite bonus
