I'm attempting to make my first cosplay from scratch (Queen Elinor from Brave). As it's my first time I'm using a pattern, and I've found the one I think I want to use. However I'm having a little trouble understanding the greek on the back. I just want to know how much material I need to use.



I need to make Dress D is size 16. As I understand it the nap thing only matters if the fabric I'm using has a direction to it. The thing I really don't get is the 45" /60" thing. Is that something to do with length? If anyone can tell me that'd be a massive help.

The 45 to 60 thing is the width of your base fabric in inches.
I find that if you look at the side in French it will tell you how much fabric you need lengthways you need in metres.

Now... to work out how much I'm going to need to do the under and outer dress.

From prior experience, I've gotta give a word of warning: Watch out when you come to putting that collar together. From my previous ventures, because of the gathers, sometimes it works, sometimes it puts together like crap. Just... Be extra-specially cautious with every stitch xD

I have to make two dresses (one under one outer) so I'm going to do the under one first so I can practice. The collar etc won't show as much so I can just hide it away if it all goes hideously wrong. I think I need to adapt the collar a little as well so that's EXTRA fun times...
