Make up and Wing Harness help~
Hey all, I'm currency making this cosplay:

I really think I should wear make up with this cosplay to fit the image. However I rarely wear make up and when I go it's usually just a bit of eye liner. So It would be greatly appreciated if someone could give me some advice ^^

Also Wing harness I have an idea of how I like to make it, but I'm not sure it will work. So I'd like to get peoples advice ^^ I was planning on having some light but strong material. Wood, or something similar. I would attach this to my back with elastic. I would have bolts going through this and through my top to the other side. Then I would put the wings on then screw on the nuts to keep it all together. Then I would clip the material over using poppers so you can't see the bolts. Its hard to explain maybe my sketch will help ^^;;;

(I drew one bolt per a wing in my picture but i will do 2, Totalling in 8 bolts)

I'd like to know if this idea is viable and any suggestions/improvements would be loved ^_^

Thanks~

Due to the size of them I would be more tempted to go with a harness like this:

http://www.whatishcc.com/tutorials/wingharness.php

THe advantage of this is that you can unclip your wings to go to the loo but also all the weight from your wings is on your hips as opposed to your shoulders which means it would be less strain on you whilst wearing these. you could even mix it up a little if you wanted and have the top two wings on back back design and lower two wings in corset harness? Though I'm a really big fan of the corset harness becuase theres nothing worse than being crippled from backache with a cosplay.

The Harness you described can work just fine but it doesn't look easily transportable to me so that's another reason why the second one works better.

Also using PVC pipes instead of wood for the bones of the wings will make the whole thing lighter. It will also give the wings a natural bouncy when you walk which is cool.

As for make up it looks like eyeliner to me.

something like this will help. She waffles on for ages but really what your after is how she applys eyeliner to her lower and uplids. There are plenty of tutorials like this so get experimenting

I thought of doing it that way, but I don't like the bulkyness of the Harness and no way to hide it. I'll be able to detach the wings on my design by undoing the nut, so transport and toilet aren't a problem.

The makeup tutorial looks perfect Thanks ^.^ I'll get some makeup and do some tests ^.^

No worries I look forward to seeing how it comes out the wings are so pretty

also on a side note for the make up it might be worth picking up :
Collection 2000 Smokey Eye Pallet. I bought mine in superdrug becuase they were having a 3 for 2 offer and it made it a lot cheaper but if I dont know what make up to wear for a cosplay I usually use this. It comes with three light colours, three medium colours and three dark colours and it tells you how to blend them to get the effect

They also do pallettes of crazy colours but the above is the one that I think will work best. Also if your only using makeup for cosplays I wouldn't worry too much about investing in lots of brushes, just use the ones that come with the kits
