Corset construction
So hi.

Again.

I'm making a corset for Enchantress (Marvel) and I've found a website to get the stuff for it (http://www.venacavadesign.co.uk) but I have no idea what I actually need to make it! I've got the fabric, but I've realised that it's quite light material, so would I need to back it as well?

- This is (sorta) the corset I want to make.

I did look around of the website, but it just made me go @.@ as I don't know what I'm looking for...

EDIT: also, I know I could just make a bodice for it, but I'd rather it be a corset.

You'll want a very strong fabric that you then use your fabric as a layer on top of (the "fashion" layer). It's actually the fabric of the corset that cinches you in rather than the boning - that just keeps the fabric from rucking up. Most corsets are constructed with coutil or bull denim, which I'm pretty sure Vena Cava sell

Yeah, they had stuff like that on there :3 Thanks! Do I secure the material types together as well?

Coutil is fantastic stuff, bull denim has a little more give to it and may stretch a bit over time, but both will be fine for your costume.

Tack your fashion fabric to the structural fabric before you start sewing and treat them as one normal piece, then it'll all be held neatly at the seams.

So... Coutil will make it last longer, essentially?

Okay, thank yous!
