I've be interested in this stuff for a VERYYYYYYYY long time, but never been in a place where I could even think of doing it. I only just realised that such communities in the UK exist, but still unsure...

Would you say there is a 'too old for it' age?

tbh, i think there is a line were some ones a bit to old, and it can creep out the other cosplayers a bit, but thats like 45ish. ^^;
seeing as some of the trekkies are like... 60 aswell, maybe not? 8D

I say you can never be too old to cosplay. I've known quite a few mature cosplayers who still look fantastic. I'm 34 and I don't see me stopping any time soon. Not unless my acting career really takles off.

(I'm 22 in case you not checked my profile - but I do feel rather old about myself most of the times... in a bad way).

I think there's no set age where you're too old to cosplay - it differs from person to person. I know some people stop at about 21 or so; I'm 27 and don't see myself giving it up any time soon.

I think as long as you're picking characters that are appropriate for your age/looks, then it's all good. It does seem like older cosplayers gravitate more towards sci-fi/fantasy/cult costuming though.

I've only started cosplaying and I'm 21 i think its just dependant on when u get into it lol

Hehe, well I know 22 is not old, but you know what they say - it is how you feel inside that counts - that is what is messed up right now lol.

I think I am going to go for a Reno costume. Struggling a bit to figure out if the zipper on his jacket is silver/black/white.

at 25 i sometimes feel old, I just try to cosplay characters that suit my age a little better (she says having just cosplayed a 16 year old, AGAIN!!!)

I'm 21, 22 in December, and I don't think you can be too old for it.
As long as you stick to characters you suit at your age, its cool.
But - if you want to do a younger character and your appearance may be a little too... mature for that character, the right makeup and underwear (tummy tuck pants, anyone?) can work wonders! :B

i'm 31 and just started. but in my opinion, age is a state of mind, not a limit to what you should be doing.

never let anyone ever tell you you're "too old" for something that you enjoy.

I just turned 27 and Expo London May 2008 was the first time I saw people cosplaying and loved it >_<. So, I'm just starting =/. Some people stop at 21? That makes me feel old(er) . I really wish I could have done this when I was younger >_<. I've missed so much time :O

Well, I'm 28 and still making costumes. While I don't make as many as I used to, I don't have any intention of packing up my sewing machine just yet.

I'm only 18 at the moment, so I'm getting all the revealing cosplays out the way before I start to age.

Then I shall become the suit guy so I don't scar children.

I think age can matter when it comes to things like looks of a character, but if I'm in a mask and full covering costume, who cares?

Only thing is, I probably won't be able to do Voldo's moves when I get into my later years. So that's something to think about when you decide if a costume is too young for you.

I stated cosplaying years ago. As time went on I found my self spending more and more money. Now my intrest has split off into takeing photos of cosplayers as well as cosplaying.

Yet with doing photos the cost have incresed. SLR cameras and 3CCD video cameras are not cheap.

hi, im 22 aswell. i started cosplay abt 5 yrs ago and never looked bk. i dont plan on stoping cosplay at anytime. even when i have kids they will cosplay 2. lol

Hehe, actually most of my time I am either wearing a suit smartly, or a scruffy school-boy look suit. I guess it is why I want to go for the Reno (FF7) type look. It is to me a suit with a twist.

*hasn't started planning what to dress her future kids up as....honest!*

I cosplayed as a 12-year-old girl earlier this year and (I think) I got away with it. I doubt that's something I'll be able to do much of in the future, mind (if nothing else, I'm not keen on the chest binding )!


It's such an individual thing that I really wouldn't stress about it. Some people just grow out of some things quicker than others, and some never do - that's just life.

Currently I'm the boobs in the group *cough* Ivy *cough* but as I start to get old and ugly I don't think people will want to see them anymore. Especially me.

I feel men are at something of an advantage on this - there are quite a lot of cool older male characters in anime, but comparatively few cool older female characters for us girls - most anime girls seem to be in their teens to early 20s.

Maybe I'm just watching all the wrong anime ^_^

I'm 20, nearly 21 and started cosplaying at 19. I don't feel like I'm gonna give up any time soon I just wished I had started earlier!

I started when I was 21 and now I'm 24. I don't plan to give up cosplaying anytime soon... well I'll see when I'm 30 XD
