Use a wig, dying it is very hard, time consuming and trashes yout hair and spay in colour looks horrible.

Aside from talc the only other temp option I know of is to use one of the spray colours.
I find talc and the majority of spray colours just don't look good on most hair colours. Mike (mangachild) manages to get the sprays looking really good so if you do go for sprays it'd be worth asking him for some tips on brands and application.
Dying you hair is going to take quite a bit of effort. For gray you'll need to bleach then use the correct dye. For white it takes quite a bit more. If you hair is darker than med brown chances are you'll need to bleach a few times to ensure it's not yellow anywhere then tone it white with a dye.
Your best bet is to get a wig really.

I once used a hair gel that was white for a stripe down my hair. Its cheap and can be found at Boots. I forgot the name but it was not that much money.

I'm guessing this is for Big Boss?

What colour is your hair? As long as a wig cap (or two) will disguise the colour of your hair then you can get away with a wig. I've done a few short wigs now for people and as long as you get a good thick wig it won't be a problem.

Dittoing this!! It's a good idea. You can even get like a white wig cap to be worn underneath if you do not like the idea of the normal skin coloured ones.

Otherwise, if you have very light blonde/bleached hair, then style it first and use (get someone else to do) the spray on colour - the spray on colour is like a washable spraypaint, so it will work like a hairspray. It's hard to explain but it might work in this case. The only experience I've had with it is for doing hair for photos/one off things.

Honestly, do not try for silver or white hair. The amount of people who killed their hair trying for it... it's not worth it. (SCARE TACTICS yes but it is so bad for hair to do!)

yep its for old big boss, my hair is a light brown and im not bleaching it again if i can help it (ive bleached it alot in my younger days)

i think looking though the tips youve all writen im thinking of doing a wig but ive never modded a wig this much before, is it going to be very hard?

It shouldn't be too hard at all. As long as you can get a thick wig the styling should be a breeze. ^^ I'd be happy to help if you wanted. :3
